Infantry Rifle is an Assault Weapon in Fortnite that was added in Season 7.
Functionality

Infantry Rifle is a mid to long ranged, automatic assault weapon, with a slow fire-rate and average sized magazine, designed for longer range engagements, at ranges where regular assault weapons would be weaker, but not quite the range of a sniper rifle. Infantry Rifle has slight damage fall-off and uses first shot accuracy.
Infantry Rifle is a Hitscan weapon with First Shot Accuracy enabled.
Damage falloff:
- Damage falloff begins at 50 meters (10 tiles).
- Damage decreases down to 93% of its maximum at 75 meters (15 tiles).
- Damage reaches its minimum value of 84% of its maximum at 95 meters (19 tiles).

- When using an Infantry Rifle, it is best to get accurate shots on the enemy by standing still for a second before firing each shot. This makes the best use of the Infantry Rifle because it can deal heavy damage to players this way.
- When in close proximity, this isn't the best weapon to use. The hip-fire accuracy is poor and its fire rate is sluggish. Consider using an SMG or shotgun at close range instead.
- When picking between an Infantry Rifle and other assault rifles, note the Infantry Rifle's strength of high medium-to-long-range accuracy and moderate damage, and its weaknesses of low capacity, poor structure DPS, and poor hip-fire accuracy.
Counters[]
- A good method of countering an Infantry Rifle is to continuously build a wall or floor in the direction of the shots until the enemy has to stop to reload their rifle. This is the best time to start to return fire at the enemy since if they're boxed up, they would have to cancel reloading to avoid damage.
- Another would be to use a scoped weapon, as despite the Infantry Rifle's high accuracy, it still has spread. By default, a red dot weapon can outperform it at range.
- When dealing with an opponent that has an Infantry Rifle, try to move between as much cover as possible and close the gap, as its poor close range performance can hinder it.

- The Infantry Rifle resembles the M1 Garand[1].
- On introduction, the Infantry Rifle was a projectile based weapon, meaning it fired a fast moving bullet affected by gravity, rather than the hit-scan weapon it is now. This was changed due to the weapon being notoriously weak.
