The Sideways Scythe is a Melee Weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was added in Chapter 2: Season 8.
Functionality
Functionality[]
The Sideways Scythe has three abilities:
- The player can swing the Scythe to deal damage to opponents and structures. Players can chain together attacks to attack more quickly.
- The player can sprint forward with the alternate fire button, causing them to run at a high speed in the forwards direction. If the player intercepts with an opponent or structure they will attack automatically. This goes on a short cooldown after use.
- The player can do a jump attack in which they will gain a good amount of vertical and horizontal moment with fall damage negated and slam into the ground, dealing damage.

- Upon introduction the Sideways Scythe caused players to take fall damage on landing with the leap attack.
- There is a glitch when swinging your pickaxe and switching to the weapon it uses a pickaxe animation, This is canceled by doing an attack.
- In Chapter 2: Season 8, and Horde Rush, Sideways Scythes could have been upgraded with:
- 10 Cube Monster Parts - Common to Uncommon.
- 15 Cube Monster Parts - Uncommon to Rare.
- 20 Cube Monster Parts - Rare to Epic.
- 25 Cube Monster Parts - Epic to Legendary.
- 50 Cube Monster Parts - Legendary to Mythic
