Launches a big rocket that's controlled remotely. Enjoy the ride!
— In-Game Description

The Guided Missile is an Explosive Weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale, that was added in Season 3.

Functionality

Functionality[]

The Guided Missile is a unique firing weapon, in that when it is fired, control is taken away from the player and given to the rocket itself, hence the name. The missile is then guided to its target by player control, which can be moved in any direction, but always moving forward. The rocket will explode after a number of seconds, indicated by a bar across the screen. Like the Rocket Launcher, its rocket can also damage the player who fired it if they are within the explosion radius. The rockets deal more damage to structures than to players.

The Guided Missile is a Slow Moving Projectile Weapon. The Projectile is controlled by the player, and can be slowly maneuvered before exploding.

There is no damage falloff on the Guided Missile's projectiles.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • The Guided Missile's appearance is very similar to the M72 LAW or AT4, both weapons which do not have heat seeking Missiles in real life.
  • Its function was very similar to the Valkyrie Rockets in Call of Duty: Black Ops. They function the same way, with a player controlled missile on a timer, launched from a rocket launcher.
  • The Guided Missile was the first weapon to be unvaulted.
  • The Guided Missile was available in Creative through glitches and in random chests. This was patched when it was removed from the files.
  • The Guided Missile is one of the few released items that were completely removed from the game until its return during Fortnite OG OG Chapter 1: Season 3.
    • Before its full reintroduction in Fortnite OG, it was partially re-added to the game files in Chapter 3: Season 3.
  • There were rumors that the Guided Missile would return for Chapter 4: Season OG. However these turned out to be false.
  • The Guided Missile has an unused function where if the player controlling the missile right clicks, it instantly detonates the missile.
  • DO NOT USE RC Rocket uses the Noble Launcher as its appearance and shoots the rocket that is used in the Rocket Rodeo Emote out.
  • It is currently tied with the Zapotron (Battle Royale) for longest time to get added to Creative, taking 2,315 days since Creative was released.
