The Heavy Shotgun is a Shotgun in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was added in Season 3.
Functionality
Functionality[]
The Heavy Shotgun is a semi-automatic weapon, with a low damage output and tight spread. It can pierce through multiple targets making it great for dealing with grouped up enemies. Its damage against structures is increased, hence its name.
The Heavy Shotgun is a Hitscan weapon that fires a spread of 10 pellets when both aiming down sights and hipfiring. Aiming down sights tightens the spread of pellets.
Damage falloff:
- Damage falloff begins at 10 meters (2 tiles).
- Damage decreases down to 83% of its maximum at 15 meters (3 tiles).
- Damage steadily decreases down to 47% of its maximum at 25 meters (5 tiles).
- It deals damage until 40 meters (8 tiles).

- When choosing between the Heavy Shotgun and the Tactical Shotgun, keep in mind that while the Heavy Shotgun may be more consistent due to its tighter pellet spread, it has a slower fire rate, and smaller magazine than the Tactical Shotgun.
- The Heavy Shotgun has a lower damage fall-off, so keeping your mid range against your opponent can be very beneficial.

- Despite the Heavy Shotgun's description claiming to fire slugs, the shots fired were still pellet-based shotgun rounds.
- A Rare version of this weapon exists, only being in Team Brawl and Spy Games.
- The Heavy Shotgun was unvaulted in Reload in Update v30.20.
