Chapter 7: Season 2, also known as Chapter Seven: Season 2 and Season 40, was the fortieth season of Fortnite: Battle Royale and the second season of Chapter 7. The season began on March 19th 2026 and ended on June 5th 2026 immediately following the Shattered Live Event.
The season's main slogan is SHOWDOWN, with the theme of one-on-one Rivalries. The storyline features a clash between The Foundation and The Ice King.

Since the Collider's destruction, The Foundation mysteriously went missing. At some point, he was captured by the Ice King and frozen in his private collection.
After receiving a distress signal from Jones while analyzing the aftermath of the Battle of Oninoshima, The Order traveled to the Golden Coast but was intercepted by the Dark Voyager, who seized the Zero Point Shard as part of a mission to recover other Shards and rebuild the original Zero Point. With the Looper's help, the Order escaped the Dark Voyager's prison and contacted the remaining members of the Seven, leading them to the Golden Coast using schematics left behind by the Scientist. The first member to arrive, however, is a version of the Visitor from an Reality: Unknown onboard a rocket. Later on in that reality, the Ice King ushered in a massive snowstorm that blanketed the Athena island in snow.
Leadup to Season 2
Leadup to Season 2[]
The Order and the Looper infiltrate the Dark Voyager's Labs and find a single encrypted message, which AMIE deciphers as one to a master the Dark Voyager is working for. Inside his Dark Harvester spaceship, the Dark Voyager continuously traveled to other realities in search of other Zero Point Shards, collecting two in the process. In order to find more, the Dark Harvester fired a laser blast at the Shards, which led what currently constituted the Zero Point to create three Pure Portals that were linked to the realities that housed the other Shards. One of these Portals opened in an icy tundra overlooking an ominous castle.
As the shard distortions appear across the Golden Coast, The Foundation arrives in Reality: 266 joining the New Seven and, after getting rid of his old one, reforged tech suits are built for him and The Order. But just as the team of heroes is mostly reunited, three Zero Point Shards are brought on the Island, bringing different realities and merging them with the Island. The Ice King and his Frigid Fortress cover the northern part of the Island, Reality: 7021's Squibbly Shores takes the place of Bumpy Bay while, near the New Sanctuary, a shard contaminates the waters near Looper's Leap.
The Ice King poses himself as a new threat for the Golden Coast, looking to freeze whoever holds enough power, deeming them unworthy. Among his collection there are the restless spirit Orelia, the warrior Guan Yu, the first Avenger Captain America and The Prisoner, his former knight. While on the Island, the Ice King adds Human Bill and Peely to his throne room prisoners.
In the meantime, after flying multiple times above the skies of The Elites' headquarters within Reality: 337, the Dark Voyager lands his Dark Harvester on the ground to analyze his surroundings, but moments before the ship could take off to return to Reality: 266, Jules secretly boards it. Once on the Golden Coast, Jules joins the New Seven, considering the Dark Voyager a threat to all life and The Elites' very values.
Story
Story[]
The New Seven plan a first strike against the Ice King, but The Foundation is frozen in the process and locked inside the Ice King Vault. Meanwhile, the Dark Voyager decided to forge an alliance with the Ice Kingdom's ruler. Arriving at Frigid Fortress, he is allowed to walk across the room by the Frozen Knights and presents his offer to the Ice King in return for his help, which involved using the Ice Kingdom's power to keep the elements in sync[1]. The Ice King accepted the Voyager's offer and began to help the him in his quest to rebuild The Zero Point.
The New Seven and their allies launched a mission to locate the Foundation with a sensor device and activate his recovered suit's device to melt the ice and set him free. As The Order, The Visitor, Jones and Hope find their way through the icy winds, The Foundation is freed from ice and, after taking down one of the Ice King's Frozen Knights, he makes his way through the Fortress' throne room. Once there, a confrontation began and the leader of the Seven dodges ice beams shot by the Ice King, destroying Peely's frozen body in the process and freeing Human Bill from his ice pillar, but the confrontation ends in a tie.
Upon the liberation of The Foundation, the Dark Voyager and the Ice King devised a plan to distract him and The Seven. While the Ice King would begin a "personal" war with The Foundation, forcing the Islanders to choose sides between the Ice Kingdom and The New Seven, The Dark Voyager would be free to move around and collect and fuse the Shards. In the meantime, The New Seven want on their own mission, Hope and The Order would stay behind at New Sanctuary to get things into place, Jones, The Looper and The Foundation would stay in the terrain and do the fight, while The Visitor patrols and studies the shards.
Jones and the Foundation[]
In the first week of the showdown between the New Seven and the Ice Kingdom, The Looper is called to assist Jones and his "best friend", The Foundation. After personally vouching for The Looper, Jones tasks them with guiding Foundation and helping him understand the severity of the Zero Point Shards situation. Once Foundation realizes how critical it is, he insists on assessing their weaknesses and leverage points alongside Jones and The Looper.
While studying Frigid Fortress, Jones questions how Foundation could possibly escape such a place. Shortly after, the three engage in target practice to test the new Vector 7 DMR, with Foundation actively participating. Jones also takes the opportunity to showcase a new trick using the Skyline Deployer.
Later, Jones and The Looper team up again, and Jones casually asks whether Foundation is available. Foundation agrees to join them, though only in exchange for bars. Jones uses the moment to offer him a few "gifts", including a weapon, a music playlist, and what he calls an "early advantage". At the end of their mission, Jones and The Looper regroup with Order to power up the Holotable. Using the voice password "Sanctuary", Order accesses the status of all members of The Seven and connects Foundation to their secure server.
The Foundation vs. The Ice King[]
During the following week, The Looper is tasked by The Foundation with testing mythic and exotic weapons for armory evaluation. The latter concluding they are still fun to use despite not being toys. The Foundation then plans an attack on the Ice King's collection. By destroying parts of it alongside The Looper, they hope to pressure the Ice King into leaving the fight, but instead only succeed in making him angrier.
Later, the duo begin studying the effects of the Zero Point Shards on the surrounding terrain. These anomalies create hazards such as icy footing and zones of low gravity, allowing them to gain new advantages in battle. Later, the both of them confront the Ice King once again, defeating him long enough to grant the Foundation a brief moment of peace. The mission ultimately concludes with The Looper searching the Island for notable individuals who might assist the New Seven.
Rebuilding with Hope and The Order[]
As enhancements to the New Sanctuary continue, Hope asks The Looper to help her and The Order with ongoing work. After The Looper gathers supplies and ammunition, Hope admits she wishes she could see what lies ahead so she could contribute more to the fight. Nonetheless, the work continues. After practicing shoulder riding to map common traversal routes and battle locations across the Island, The Looper hones their sniping skills. Hope notes that she had heard they were a contender with the Order, unlike her, and upon seeing their skills she asks them for advice.
Finally, alongside Hope, The Looper decrypts a recorded message from The Imagined taken from one of their old conversations during Chapter 3: Season 2, in the middle of the war against the Imagined Order, where she ultimately died. In this message, the Imagined speaks about remembering why they fought. The Order notes that she will remember it for both of them, while Hope remarks that she wishes she had gotten the chance to know her, adding that she feels lucky to have met her sister, The Order.
Foundation vs Ice King: The Showdown Intensifies[]
Later, The Looper is then send by The Foundation to eliminate the Ice King's knights. Shortly afterward, while the Foundation mentions the need for his Field General, The Looper goes to the Holotable to decrypt one of the recorded conversations they once had with The Origin, also during Chapter 3: Season 2, during the war against the Imagined Order. In doing so, they reveal the Origin's current status to the members of the Seven, who learn that their Field General was lost to the Chrome. The news saddens both the Visitor and the Order, but also the Foundation, who turns off his communications for a while, far more affected by the revelation than he would like to admit.
A Voyager's Arrival[]
While the Dark Voyager continued searching for the final Zero Point Shard across other realities. One of these journeys led him to the Storm-ravaged world inhabited by the Homebase heroes, where his investigations were hindered by the world's defenders. At the same time, several Homebase survivors, including Penny, Jess, Ray, and Lars, arrived in Reality: 266, where they decided to assist the New Seven as long as they're here, establishing additional fortifications near Looper's Leap before working to return to their own reality with the help of The Looper.
Squibbly vs. Fishstick[]
As the Foundation keeps fighting the Ice King, The Looper gets involved in Squibbly joined the ranks of the Ice King alongside his people while Fishstick joined The Foundation. Squibbly worked to reduce Fishtick's supply and scare away customers from his restaurant, Sticks, greatly impacting it.
In the following week, facing a dangerous situation, Fishstick nevertheless found an ally. One of the Chef Squibblies decided to investigate on Fishstick following the common thought of his people considering him evil. However, he found out everything was a misunderstanding. Considering the Sticks restaurant profitable and needing a chef, he joined Fishstick, getting hired by Sticks and managed to turn things around by offering new dishes made with "synthetic squids," allowing the restaurant to recover and experience a surge in customers.
At the same time, however, the disappearance of the Squibbly Chef who helped Fishstick, now dubbed the Missing Ink, along with Sticks' rising sales, worried his fellow Squibblies. They investigated Sticks' calamari menu by looking for the Dine and Splash bags before searching any clue for the Missing Ink. A confrontation happened with the Dread Punisher Squibbly but he knew nothing at all, leaving the Squibbly Chef out of lead.
Shattered[]
The Foundation and the Ice King prepare for their final showdown. Both are awaiting the Dark Voyager's return to Reality: 266 with the final Zero Point Shard, with the Foundation seeking not only to prevent the Zero Point's reconstruction, but also to enact personal revenge on the Ice King.
Team Foundation and Team Ice King meet at the Zero Point in Dark Dominion. The Foundation aims his rifle at the Dark Harvester only for it to malfunction, and Jones realizes they had been lured into a trap. Both teams erupt fire on each other, with Team Foundation succeeding in disabling the Harvester. The Foundation and the Ice King then engage in a head-on fight, and when Jones reminds the Foundation of his mission to escort the Shard away, he instead uses it as a weapon to deflect attacks from the Ice King's Infinity Blade, which begins to tear the Island apart. The Infinity Blade becomes lodged in the Shard and turns into a flock of Rift Butterflies.
The Looper's soul is projected into either the Foundation or the Ice King (depending on their allegiance) as their brawl continues, damaging parts of Dark Dominion. When the Foundation attempts to finish the Ice King off, the Ice King freezes the Foundation into ice, having won the Showdown. The Dark Voyager meets with the Ice King and, declaring his duties fulfilled, obliterates him.
The final Shard is reunited with the Zero Point, which is then blasted with an intense beam of energy by the Harvester. Jones signals his team to retreat as the Zero Point begins to go haywire, shattering the Island as reality is warped. A Rift Butterfly delivers the Infinity Blade to the Looper, which they then use to slice the Harvester in two.
Afterwards, the Dark Voyager visits Jones and the Visitor, who reveals that this was his plan all along. He betrays Jones and reveals himself as Geno, the founder of the Imagined Order and the Dark Voyager's master.
Battle Pass

Due to the price increases on V-Bucks that went into effect at the start of the season, the Showdown Battle Pass costs 
800 V-Bucks for the first time, with an additional 25-level boost being offered for 1,800 V-Bucks. Fortnite Crew subscribers immediately unlock the Battle Pass alongside the OG Pass, Music Pass, and LEGO® Pass. Battle Pass levels require 80,000 
, or up to 99 rewards can be claimed individually for 150 V-Bucks each.
The total amount of V-Bucks obtainable from the Battle Pass were reduced as well, from 1,500 V-Bucks to 800 V-Bucks, and V-Bucks rewards are no longer offered in the Bonus Rewards track of the Battle Pass.
From the season's launch on March 19th to March 26th, obtaining the Battle Pass will also unlock the Stealth Tech Foundation style for The Foundation (Reforged) Outfit. At the beginning of Chapter 7: Season 3, an additional style for Exalted Ice King was awarded to all Showdown Battle Pass owners after Team Ice King won the Showdown over Team Foundation.

- The trailers for Chapter 7: Season 2 references the trailers released to promote Avengers: Doomsday (2026).
- Both Avengers: Doomsday and Chapter 7: Season 2 feature Steve Rogers.
- Before the countdown at the end of each trailer, there is always a group of text in the format of [CHARACTER] will return to Fortnite: Showdown, similar to the Doomsday trailer but instead the character will return in Avengers: Doomsday.
- A countdown appears at the end of some trailers for Chapter 7: Season 2, similar to the Doomsday countdown.
- Chapter 7: Season 2...
- ...was the first season to be officially split into multiple acts.
