The Smoke Grenade is a Utility Item in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was added in Season 1.

Functionality

Smoke Grenades are thrown to produce a large cloud of smoke, obscuring an area from view. This cloud is a sphere, several meters across that can only be seen through with Thermal Vision. Multiple Smoke Grenades can be thrown in one place, and they will detonate on landing. This smoke lasts around 20 seconds.

  • The Smoke Grenade behaves very similar to the Stink Bomb as both produce a cloud of vision obscuring gas. However, the key differences are that the Stink Bomb deals damage, and has a brownish/green colored smoke, rather than white.
