Shadow Stones are Consumable Foraged Items in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They were added in Season 6.

Functionality

Functionality[]

Shadow Stones, when consumed, turn players into Shadow Form for 45 seconds. This form makes players invisible, aside from a purple contrail whilst moving. Whilst in the shadow form, players are unable to use weapons, they gain increased movement speed, jump height, and are immune to falling damage and they gain a phase ability which can be activated with the Primary Fire button. This will propel players forward, allowing them to phase through solid objects, such as walls, trees, and even player structures.

Shadow Stones must be consumed off the ground, and cannot be stored in the player's inventory. The effect can be canceled by holding down the aim button.

  • Shadow Stones are useful for escaping the storm, or general traversal at high speeds.
  • Shadow Stones can be used to negate fall damage in an emergency. However, this is very hard to make use of due to the item being unable to be stored in the player's inventory.
  • Players can stack speed boosts from Peppers, or Chili Chug Splash to gain a very fast movement speed.

  • In Season 6, a glitch done in Playground mode by consuming a Shadow Stone and pressing the respawn button at the same time would make the player's character completely invisible once they respawned, and would maintain the ability to use weapons and items.
  • Shadow Stones were notorious for being constantly disabled and re-enabled due to their buggy nature, similar to Sand Tunneling.
    • They were disabled for most of their inclusion in Season 6, disabled when introduced as Glitched and finally disabled twice in Chapter 2: Season 8.
