Content Update v7.40 Patch Notes.

The Driftboard is a vehicle in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was introduced in Season 7.

Functionality

Functionality[]

The Driftboard seats one player, who has their feet settled on the board's magnets. The board hovers slightly above the ground using anti-gravity propellers, and can move forwards, backwards, jump and boost for a short burst of speed. The driver can also lean backwards and forwards in the air to build up trick score. This has no effect aside from visuals.

Players operating the Driftboard can also shoot their own weapons, heal and emote, all whilst maintaining the momentum they have gathered. They cannot initiate movement whilst performing such actions however.

The Driftboard won't physically affect or damage any entity by ramming into it.

Strategy Guide[]

Calculated - Emote - Fortnite This section outlines a strategy.
Feel free to add tips, tricks and general advice about the topic.
  • The Driftboard can be used to heal on the move, as momentum gathered before healing will be maintained whilst doing so. This is good for healing whilst escaping The Storm.
  • The Driftboard can be used to shoot at players while they are driving vehicles, and move at the same speed as them.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • The Driftboard was originally planned to be added in Update v7.10, however it was postponed due to an issue found at the last minute.
  • For several hours after the update which first added them, Driftboards were found in most zones in Save the World, albeit, moving significantly slower then their Battle Royale counterparts. They were quickly removed, however.
  • The Driftboard is likely a reference to the Back to the Future Series, specifically Back to the Future Part II, where the main character Marty McFly, uses a similar looking board when he travels to the future.
    • Unlike the movie however, the Driftboard works on water (or at least does not disable when submerged).
  • When the Driftboard returned in Chapter 4: Season OG, it was released during the Season 6 update, not the Season 7/8 update.
