The Grappler is a Consumable Item in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was introduced in Season 5.
The Grappler has two Mythic variants called Skye's Grappler and Ice Spice's Grappler and an Exotic version called Icy Grappler.
Functionality
Functionality[]
The Grappler is a medium ranged utility weapon, which is designed to greatly aid the player's mobility, by pulling them forwards towards a selected location. Firing the Grappler launches out a plunger, and if this plunger connects with a surface, the player will be pulled upwards and towards it. This can be used to gain vertical and horizontal distance very quickly.
Missing a shot with the Grappler will not use any ammo. Missing will result in a short delay before it can be fired again. When all 10 charges have been depleted, the item will disappear from the players inventory.
However, in some cases, a zero charge grappler may remain inside the inventory as a bug after charges have been depleted, so it may manually need to be removed even after depletion.
The Grappler grants fall damage immunity when it sticks to a target until the user lands.

- Added momentum functionality to Grapplers. When hitting a moving object (vehicle, player), its momentum will be added to your launch force. You cannot lose momentum Grappling to a slower object.

- When grappling as a vehicle passenger, the velocity of your vehicle is factored into the grapple force.
- Only occurs in instances where vehicle velocity will be a net gain to grapple force.
- Grappling as a vehicle passenger will now cause the vehicle to travel in a straight line to its destination rather than traveling in an arc.

- The Grappler can be used to counter players who are building high up, as it can be used to quickly pull yourself up to their build.
- The Grappler can be used to negate fall damage, if you are able to connect a shot with a surface, to pull you towards it and land safely.
- Fall damage still applies when using this weapon. If you pull yourself too high up and either fail to use it again, or it is discarded, you will take fall damage.

- The item appeared as a choice in the Unvaulting Event. It lost to the Drum Gun.
- When appearing in LTMs, the Grappler often has infinite uses.
- The Grappler has a glitch in Team Rumble and Creative in which if a player is eliminated when the Grappler sticks on a surface, the player cannot switch to other items/weapons after being respawned. This resulted in the item being disabled in Team Rumble several times.
- You can shoot the Grappler onto an Rocket Launcher rocket you fired to boost forward. You can then use it again on the ground to not take damage.
- A version of the Grappler can be made in LEGO Fortnite.
