Overview
OG[]
The Vault (also known as The Gateway) is an Unnamed Location in Fortnite: OG that was added in OG Chapter 1: Season 8 to the island Athena. It is a giant vault made specifically to store The Zero Point.

April 27th 2026[]
- 4:00pm ET: The Vault was unearthed in Digsite Gamma.
Update v40.40[]
- The central part of Loot Lake was dug out. The excavators have revealed The Vault. Several watchtowers and research facilities were constructed around it by The Government.

May 30th 2026[]
- 2:00pm ET: An orange hologram
appeared above one of The Vault rune slots.
May 31st 2026[]
- 2:00pm ET: A floating rune
appeared near Lucky Temple.
- It could be damaged, but when brought down to 0 health it would move.
June 1st 2026[]
- 3:26pm ET: The floating rune inserted itself into its slot at The Vault.
June 2nd 2026[]
- 2:00pm ET: An orange hologram
appeared above one of The Vault rune slots.
June 3rd 2026[]
- 2:00pm ET: The second rune
appeared above The Vault. - Lasers related to the rune appeared in 3 places around the Island:
- On top of the Volcano
- Under Tree of Life
- Northwest of Pleasant Park.
- 5:25pm ET: The second rune has entered The Vault.

Key 1[]
Key 1 appeared on May 31th, 2026, and required all players to damage it with their pickaxes or other weaponry. It would dash forward a bit after a certain amount of damage, making its way across the Island until it finally inserted itself into The Gateway.

Key 2[]
Key 2 appeared 3 days after the first, along with 3 laser-emitting orbs positioned around it. To insert this key, players had to work together and make all three lasers point at the key simultaneously.

April 5th 2019[]
- The Government's black trucks transporting excavators stopped at easternmost Loot Lake shore, south river bank.
- Excavators have begun working on a dig site.
April 7th 2019[]
- After all the rocks were broken, a metal-like structure was revealed. This was the first view of The Vault.

April 12th 2019[]
- Excavators are starting to head towards Loot Lake.
April 15th 2019[]
- All the excavators have surrounded the Loot Lake middle island.

April 17th 2019[]
- The central part of Loot Lake was dug out. The excavators have revealed The Vault. Several watchtowers and research facilities were constructed around it by The Government.
April 18th 2019[]
- An orange hologram appeared above one of The Vault rune slots.
April 19th 2019[]
- A floating rune appeared near Lucky Temple.
- It could be damaged, but when brought down to 0 health it would move.
April 21st 2019[]
- The first rune has entered The Vault. The build-up to The Unvaulting Event has begun.

- The second rune appeared above The Vault.
- Lasers related to the rune appeared in 3 places around the Island:
- On top of the Volcano
- Under Tree of Life
- Northwest of Pleasant Park.
- They can be hit to direct the lasers toward the rune.

- The second rune has entered The Vault.

- Another vault rune
smashed through the wall behind the DJ booth in Yonder Yard, causing it to collapse.
- Later that day, the third rune has entered The Vault.

appeared above one of The Vault rune slots. - Later that day, the fourth rune
appeared on the hill east of Tilted Towers, there are 9 squared tiles below the rune.
- Hour later it entered The Vault.

appeared above one of The Vault rune slots.
May 1st 2019[]
- The fifth rune
has appeared above the Volcano, there is a bar on the symbol; drop materials and ammo in to fill it up.

- The fifth and final rune has entered The Vault.
- A 24 hour countdown timer has appeared above The Vault.

- The Zero Point became the power source for Neo Tilted. A giant cable connecting both locations got added.

During Season 8, there were 5 Key Runes around Athena that needed a certain task to move and get to The Vault. After all the Runes got into their spots, the Gateway opened.
Key 1[]
Key 1 appeared on April 19th, 2019, and required all players to damage it with their pickaxes or other weaponry. It would dash forward a bit after a certain amount of damage, making its way across the Island until it finally inserted itself into The Gateway.

Key 3 appeared on April 25th inside a nightclub at Yonder Yard, players had to dance in the nightclub to cause it to fly away and be insereted into The Gateway.

Key 4[]
Key 4 appeared 3 days later near a checkered surface by Loot Lake. To activate it, players had to make the squares form a specific color pattern.

Key 5[]
The fifth and final key appeared four days later inside of the Volcano. It required players to sacrifice materials into the lava to get it to float higher and eventually reach the top of the volcano.

Trivia[]
- The Lobby in the Impostors mode is the same with the interior of The Vault, but recolored.
- The Case of Zapotron was hold inside The Bridge's Weapons Lab possibly because it was never meant to be Unvaulted.
- The Infinity Blade has also been put in The Bridge, this time in The Science Lab.
- Eternal Zero wrap is based on The Vault's ceiling, Radiant Zero wrap is based on The Vault's floor and Fractal Zero is based on the Zero Point energy inside The Vault.
- The countless Rifts in the background and the floating white orbs are identical to those in The In-Between.
