Blitz Royale (or simply Blitz) is a Zero Build-only gamemode in Fortnite that was introduced in Chapter 6: Season 3.
Rules and Gameplay
Rules and Gameplay[]
Blitz Royale is a fast-paced 32-player mode that takes under 5 minutes to get a Victory Royale, and is primarily designed for on-the-go mobile gaming. All players start with the same random Medallion or Boon and inventory of weapons and other items. The player can increase their Blitz Level by eliminating opponents and surviving Storm circles. As the player levels up, they will receive random high-rarity items. Blitz Chests and Golden Supply Drops contain even more high-rarity items.
Blitz Level
Throughout the match, players can improve their Blitz Level by eliminating opponents and surviving Storm circles, akin to Ranks that had been featured in standard Battle Royale in Chapter 6: Season 3 and Chapter 6: Season 4. As players level up, random items, usually of a high rarity, will be dropped to the player. If their inventory is full, it will fall to the floor and be marked.
- Blitz Level 2: Random healing or utility item
- Blitz Level 3: Random Mythic weapon
- Blitz Level 4: Random Exotic weapon
- Blitz Level 5: Receive one of the following:
- Mythic Goldfish
- Slurp Juice (Legendary)
- Banana of the Gods
- Infinity Blade (although significantly rarer than the other possible items)
Llamas and Supply Drops
During the match, one Silver/Golden Supply Llama will spawn in a random location on the map. Silver and golden llamas both often contain weapons or items relating to whatever was introduced in that update (e.g. a Typhoon Blade during Week 6), with the golden version usually dropping better/higher rarity loot than the silver counterpart.
Golden Supply Drops will also rain down on the map throughout the match. They usually contain higher-tier weaponry and consumables.
Maps and Rotation
Currently, Blitz Royale's map does not rotate. However, when there is more than one map available, Blitz Royale's map rotates every 10 minutes.
Items and Weapons
Blitz Royale features most past Mythic versions of weapons, in addition to collaboration items for limited time events.
In addition, the mode features a large majority of Exotic weapons from Battle Royale's lifespan:
- Select Exotic weapons from Chapter 2: Season 5, e.g. The Dub or Shadow Tracker.
- Heisted weapons from Chapter 4: Season 1.
- Lawless items from Chapter 6: Season 2.
- Unstable weapons from Chapter 6: Season 3.
- Eradicator items from Chapter 6: Season 4.

- The Storm becomes highly deadly towards the end of a match, reaching up to 40 damage per tick, making heal-off strategies almost impossible.
- It is also highly advised to be aware of the Storm's whereabouts at all times, as the safe zone is usually constantly shrinking.
- Most named locations have an abundance of Legendary Chests, making them ideal for landing at.
- It was easy to farm Victory Crowns in Blitz Royale when they were still obtainable in this mode due to the quick nature of the matches.
- Starting from February 20, 2026 onward, victory crowns are no longer obtainable as it has been disabled for this mode.
- It is highly beneficial to make full use of whatever Medallion or Boon every player starts with, as most are quite powerful.

- Since Update v39.00, it is possible to aim through the sights while in midair with all weapons, even if this is not possible in other modes.
- Peri is the mascot of Blitz Royale.
- Blitz Royale was originally set to last for four weeks, from June 18th to July 15th 2025.
- It was initially extended by four more weeks until August 12th before being extended into 2027.
- Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney had implied that Blitz Royale would become a permanent game mode.
- Week 12: Player's Choice, was intended to begin on September 2nd 2025 and would allow players to decide the loot pool. However, the week was seemingly scrapped, as the week never truly began and was never mentioned again.
- Week 13: Awesome Exotics, ended early due to the Stark Island collaboration week happening only a few days after Week 13 had begun.
- During Week 6: Envision the Void, it was still possible to start matches with the Killswitch Revolvers (Epic and Mythic), even though the official Fortnite news said that players were supposed to start with a Tracking Visor, Typhoon Blade and Void Oni Mask.
- The Blitz map is currently locked to a specific time of day. Notably, during the times when Asteria Awakened is more similar to Venture, the time of day is always set to sunset (presumably to match the yellow-colored theme of the mode).
- Instead of downed players being revived over 5 seconds like Reload, players are instead revived for 10 seconds at twice the speed, as reflected in the progress bar.
- The grayscale mask applied to undiscovered locations in other core modes exists for Venture (Blitz), as it is based off of Fortnite: Reload's Venture map. However, neither Fortnite: Reload nor Blitz Royale have the feature properly enabled.
- Blitz Royale's version of Venture has the same jingle when discovering a POI as the one from Chapter 4: Season OG and Fortnite OG (core gamemode).
- For a short period after the release of Chapter 7: Season 1, Fortnite's Google Play page included an early and unfinished screenshot of Starfall Island to promote Blitz Royale. [1]
- The map appears to have originally used the sunset lighting seen in Venture.
- The minimap has the correct location names and positioning, but the map render itself is incorrectly displaying Asteria Awakened.
- The screenshot was removed from the Google Play page with the launch of Chapter 7: Season 2.
