The Flex SMG is a Submachine Gun in Fortnite that was added in Chapter 7: Season 1.

The Flex SMG has a Mythic version called Bigfoot's Flex SMG.

Functionality

Functionality[]

The Flex SMG is a low recoil submachine gun that fires similarly to the Pulse Rifle. When hipfiring, the weapon has a fast fire rate but deals low single shot damage. When aiming down sights, the weapon receives a substantial damage increase and is much more accurate at the cost of a slower fire rate. When fired continuously, the Flex SMG becomes more accurate and easier to control past the 15th shot.

The Flex SMG is a Hitscan weapon without First Shot Accuracy.

The Flex SMG can be aimed down sights while reloading, aimed down sights while in midair and has Checkpoint Reload mechanic.

Damage falloff:

Damage falloff begins at 30 meters (6 tiles).
Damage decreases down to 78% of its maximum at 50 meters (10 tiles).
Damage steadily decreases down to 65% of its maximum at 80 meters (16 tiles).
Damage reaches its minimum value of 63% of its maximum at 130 meters (26 tiles).

The Flex SMG is one of the most versatile SMGs in the game due to its alternate fire modes when ADS and hipfired. The slower, more accurate ADS fire mode allows for solid mid-range performance, even keeping up with some ARs, and the faster, higher spread hipfire allows for a great weapon to swap to after hitting a high damage shot at close range with a Shotgun.
The ADS fire mode of the Flex SMG is very rewarding of headshots, doing up to 42 damage a headshot.
When applying pressure on structures with the Flex SMG, it is best to ADS since the structure damage matches the ADS player damage, and is also a better option because the DPS of the ADS mode is actually the higher DPS.

Counters[]

The Flex SMG can be outgunned at close range by more spray-and-pray SMGs like the Dual Micro SMGs.
Despite being more accurate than most SMGs, the Flex SMG can still be outgunned by more dedicated ARs.

The Flex SMG is held differently depending on if the player is hipfiring or aiming down sights, with the weapon being held one-handed or with both hands respectively.
