The Tactical Shotgun is a Shotgun in Fortnite that was introduced in Pre-Season.
The Tactical Shotgun has a Mythic version called the Enhanced Tactical Shotgun.
Functionality
Functionality[]
The Tactical Shotgun is a fully automatic, short ranged weapon. It fires a string of pellets when shot, which tighten on aiming down sights. The weapon can be fired continuously with no effect on accuracy. At medium range, it suffers due to the spread of pellets failing to connect with a target, and at long ranges it is almost completely ineffective.
The Tactical Shotgun is a Hitscan weapon that fires a spread of 10 pellets when both aiming down sights and hipfiring. Aiming down sights tightens the spread of pellets.
The Tactical Shotgun reloads 1 shell at a time, and its reload time statistic is how long it takes for a zero ammo reload to a full magazine.
Damage falloff:
- Damage falloff begins at 8.5 meters (1.7 tiles).
- Damage decreases down to 90% of its maximum at 10 meters (2 tiles).
- Damage steadily decreases down to 70% of its maximum at 15 meters (3 tiles).
- It deals damage until 30 meters (6 tiles).

- The Tactical Shotgun is a great weapon for beginners, as its high fire rate compared to other shotguns, and its good damage allows newer players to effectively attack opponents at close ranges.
- The Tactical Shotgun has very high structure damage compared to most Shotguns. A good strategy when engaging an opponent in Builds is to pre-fire their builds when they place them, as the Tactical Shotgun can one shot a wooden wall when being placed, and then lay full-auto fire on your opponent.

- When it originally got added, all the variants of the Tactical Shotgun used the same icon, despite two of them being Uncommon and Rare, and one being Epic.

- The Tactical Shotgun is modeled after the American Mossberg Maverick 88. Heavily modified to hold up to 8 rounds and fire in a semi-automatic/fully automatic configuration. Also modified with a custom top extension and stock. Despite being modified to fire automatically, the Tactical Shotgun still features a functional pump grip that is pumped after all shells are loaded into it's internal magazine.
- This is further reinforced by the concept art and original Chapter 1 model for the weapon displaying the text "BOSSMERG 12" under the ejection port, parodying the real world firearms manufacturers.
- It also uses the same model as the Longarm Enforcer from Save the World, but with a red finish instead of gray.
- Also in the original Chapter 1 model, the green monitor featured on the left-hand side of the Longarm Enforcer displays a game of Snake being played with Winchester on the bottom.
