Crossbow. Shoots an arrow.
— In-Game Description

The Crossbow is a Crossbow in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was added in Season 2.

The Crossbow has a seasonal variant called Cupid's Crossbow.

Functionality

Functionality[]

The Crossbow is a projectile based semi auto weapon and fires a fast moving bolt, which is affected by gravity. The weapon slow to fire, makes very little noise when shot, and has a projectile that whilst fast, is slower than the bullet from other Sniper Rifles. The weapon is fitted with a scope, and has no falloff damage. Like other Sniper Rifles, it is ineffective at close range, due to its poor hipfire spread, and slow firing speed.

The Crossbow is a projectile based weapon. It has a scope, so first shot accuracy is irrelevant. There is no damage falloff on the Crossbow's projectiles.

Strategy Guide

Strategy Guide[]

Calculated - Emote - Fortnite This section outlines a strategy.
Feel free to add tips, tricks and general advice about the topic.
  • It's best not to use the Crossbow to take down structures; it only deals half the normal damage to them and has a slow fire rate.
  • The Crossbow plays very similarly to a marksman rifle and should be used as such.
  • The notches near the bottom of the Crossbow's scope can be used to account for its bullet drop. If your first shot is too low to hit your opponent, aim with the next notch down to land your follow-up shot.
  • The Crossbow's slow fire rate makes it unsuited for dealing with weapons that fire fast, such as the Assault Rifle. Try to put some distance between you and your opponent before using the Crossbow.
  • The Crossbow is one of the most silent weapons in the game, even more so than most bows. As such, it's likely that if you miss your first shot your opponent may not even notice.
    • Be careful when using the Cupid's Crossbow variant, however; if the shot lands near the opponent they may hear the kissing sound effect and know they're being shot at.
  • The Crossbow can be used at extremely close ranges in a pinch, although its fire rate makes it very unsuited for this.
  • The Crossbow heavily benefits from landing headshots. Always aim for the head when using the Crossbow.
  • Despite its scope being very similar to those of sniper rifles, the Crossbow doesn't feature sniper glint. Because of this, you can stay aimed at your opponent for long durations of time without giving away your position.

Counters[]

  • The Crossbow is generally unsuited for close range engagements, so keeping within said range when engaging with an opponent wielding a Crossbow can be beneficial.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • The Crossbow is the only weapon introduced with a Holiday themed design. Other weapons such as the Pumpkin Launcher were modified based on existing weaponry.
  • Many players often confuse the Crossbow with the similarly named Fiend Hunter Crossbow, although they are two different weapons. The key difference between them is that the Crossbow has a scope, whereas the Fiend Hunter Crossbow does not.
  • A mistake for the 50v50 loot pool meant that the Crossbow was accidentally unvaulted for a brief period of time, in which it was shortly re-vaulted.
  • The Fiend Hunter Crossbow was accidentally used in a promo image for 14 Days of Summer.
