The Overdrive Pulse Rifle is an Assault Weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was added in Chapter 7: Season 2.

The Overdrive Pulse Rifle is an Exotic version of the Pulse Rifle.

Functionality

Functionality[]

The Overdrive Pulse Rifle is a fairly accurate assault rifle. It specializes in its extremely high rate of fire, which has been adjusted to almost double of what the normal Pulse Rifle is capable of. To match its blistering fire rate, the Overdrive Pulse Rifle also has 25 bullets in its magazine. However, unlike other variants of this weapon, the Overdrive Pulse Rifle does not have the special ability to increase damage while aiming down sights at the cost of firing speed.

The Overdrive Pulse Rifle is a Hitscan weapon with First Shot Accuracy enabled.

The Overdrive Pulse Rifle can be aimed down sights while reloading, as well as aimed down sights while in midair within modes that have these mechanics enabled. It also has the Checkpoint Reload mechanic.

As long as the weapon is equipped by the player, the Overdrive Pulse Rifle grants an infinite Overdrive effect. Switching away from it immediately cancels the effect.

Unlike the regular Pulse Rifle and other variations of it, the Overdrive Pulse Rifle has poor accuracy and damage retention at ranges. It cannot and should not be used as an assault weapon, as it functions more like the Collateral Damage Assault Rifle.

The Overdrive Pulse Rifle was added for the Overwatch collaboration as a reference to Soldier: 76, his Heavy Pulse Rifle, and his Sprint.
- In Overwatch Caches, it comes with the Shield Keg as a reference to his Biotic Field ability.
- Alongside it are the Exotic Recon Bow, the Exotic Leaping-Lightning Gun, and the Twin Siphon Shotguns.
Unlike the original Pulse Rifle and its other variants, the Overdrive Pulse Rifle's do not change in any way when aimed down sights.
- However, the weapon still has unique animations and sounds for aiming down sights.
