The Stinger SMG is a Submachine Gun in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was added in Chapter 3: Season 1.
The Stinger SMG has a Mythic version called Gunnar's Stinger SMG.
Functionality

The Stinger SMG is a fast firing, high damage submachine gun with a small amount of spread and extra structure damage. It is quite effective at medium range combat, especially when fired in short bursts.
The Stinger SMG is a Hitscan weapon without First Shot Accuracy.
Damage falloff:
- Damage falloff begins at 30 meters (6 tiles)
- Damage decreases down to 85% of its normal value at 50 meters (10 tiles).
- Damage reaches its minimum of 77% of its normal value at 65 meters (13 tiles).

- The Stinger SMG can be very good at destroying builds, as it has a high DPS, good magazine size and does not lose Structure Damage at range.
- The Stinger SMG has very good hipfire performance, some of the best in the SMG category, making it great as a swap weapon to pair with a shotgun such as the Sentinel Pump Shotgun, for players who have a very close-range heavy playstyle.
- The Stinger SMG has a surprisingly tight ADS spread at mid-range, meaning effectively you could run the Stinger SMG for close-mid range, a Sniper or DMR for mid-long range, and a high damage Shotgun in very close range, and still be effective.
Counters[]
- Despite the high accuracy and medium range effectiveness of the Stinger SMG, it, like other SMGs, still does not have First Shot Accuracy, meaning that it is still better to use an Assault Rifle at these ranges, and can be overwhelmed at range by weapons that do have First Shot Accuracy.
- The Stinger SMG also has a bit high of a recoil pattern when ADS, so if you plan on using an SMG or any other close-range weapon at mid-range, options such as the Veiled Precision SMG and Hyperburst Pistol are better options, and can counter an enemy's effectiveness with the Stinger SMG at that range.
