Basic Sword

Functionality[]

When Equipped, the Basic Sword will increase the player's FOV. By pressing the attack button, the blade is swung in a large radius in front of the player. Repeatedly pressing this allows for multiple quick attacks. Holding down the attack button will charge up a Special attack, which can be customized into a Ground Pound, Drill or Whirlwind. The Default is Whirlwind.

When pressing the aim button, the player will dodge, enabling them to dash in the direction they are moving to avoid attacks.

Jumping and pressing the attack button will allow the player to leap forward and deal damage within a radius, while also not taking any fall damage.

The Basic Sword is a Melee Weapon, so in order to damage opponents, they must be within a certain radius of the user, when they attack.

Modifications[]

The Weapon can be modified using the Melee Designer device.

• The Melee Designer will Create a Clone of the Weapon with Custom Stats.

The Stats presented above and below show the default stats for this Weapon. On top of the stats presented, you are able to modify stats like: Time to Charge; Structure Damage; and whether dodging and blocking are Enabled.

• You are also able to change the weapon name and rarity.
  • Only Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary are currently available.

Obtained[]

This Weapon is currently only available in Fortnite Creative.

The Methods of obtaining the Basic Sword below apply to actions in Fortnite Creative. For example, "Chests" refers to whether it will drop from unmodified Chests in Creative.

History[]

Chapter 2: Season 7[]

• Update v17.30: Added an early version of the Basic Sword to the Files, alongside the Melee Modifier.
  • At this time, the Sword functions identically to the Infinity Blade.

Chapter 3: Season 1[]

• Update v19.10: The Basic Sword gets a new name and its own stats.
• Update v19.40: Introduced The Basic Sword into Fortnite: Creative.
  • Hotfix: Removed from Creative as it was not supposed to be in-game yet.

Chapter 3: Season 2[]

• Update v20.20: Added a Legendary version (which shares similar stats, minus the ability to block) to the Files for a Soundwave Series Map.
• Update v20.30: Removed the Legendary Version from the Files, as the Soundwave event that it was used in is now over.

Chapter 3: Season 3[]

• Update v21.50: Added the Common Basic Sword the Creative Inventory along with Basic Hammer and Melee Designer.

Trivia[]

• This weapon has gone through many changes since it was first leaked in Chapter 2: Season 7, including a new name and model.
  • An earlier version of the Basic Sword (Known as "Blade, with a different icon) is present in the official 'NightFair' Creative map.
