Strategy Guide

Strategy Guide[]

Calculated - Emote - Fortnite This section outlines a strategy.
Feel free to add tips, tricks and general advice about the topic.
  • Due to the weapon's very fast fire rate and wide spread when ADS, it is more ideal to use it like an SMG rather than an Assault Rifle as it performs poorly at medium/long range. However, it can be used at range in a pinch, due to it having First Shot Accuracy, meaning you can tap-fire it at medium range, although this isn't the most recommended option.
  • It is advised to carry this weapon with another longer ranged weapon, such as a Sniper, or weapons like the Veiled Precision SMG or Scoped Burst SMG to cover the Collateral Damage AR's weakness at long range. Carrying another Assault Rifle can also be viable, but you'll have to watch your ammo usage.
  • The Collateral Damage Assault Rifle is actually very similar stats wise to the Stinger SMG, sharing the same damage and fire rate statistics across Common to Legendary rarities. Also like the Stinger SMG, it has very good performance when hipfired, maybe even better than the Stinger making this a great swap weapon for very close-range oriented playstyles, when combined with a high damage shotgun, such as the Sentinel Pump Shotgun.
  • Unlike the Stinger SMG, it shares its player damage and fire rate stats with, the Collateral Damage Assault Rifle's structure damage is 2 lower than player damage per rarity, meaning that Metal structures in Builds playlists and Port-A-Bunkers in Zero Builds playlists can be a bit of a burden for the weapon to deal with. Compared to the Stinger, which has 2 higher structure damage per rarity, and the Collateral Damage Assault Rifle is more made as sort of a finisher weapon, instead of using it to break into an enemy's structure, using it as the final blow after breaking in through some other means, hitting a high power shotgun shot, and swapping the the Collateral Damage to get the kill.

Counters[]

  • At longer ranges, any scoped weapon or more precision oriented weapon can easily overwhelm an opponent wielding a Collateral Damage Assault Rifle.
  • At close range, the only real major counter to an opponent using the Collateral Damage Assault Rifle is to carry a Stinger SMG, due to the higher structure damage, or to carry a fast-firing Shotgun.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • Collateral Damage Rifle resembles the American Q Honey Badger. The Collateral Damage Assault Rifle may also resemble the German Heckler & Koch HK416C.
  • Prior to Update v34.10, Collateral Damage Assault Rifle was equipped with a Speedgrip Speedgrip.
    • This could have been seen by either dropping the weapon (the Speed Grip was clipping through the rifle's pistol grip) or by going to a Mod Bench.
    • This was likely due to the weapon being based on the Fury Assault Rifle, which is also prefixed with the Speed Grip Weapon Mod.
  • The Collateral Damage Assault Rifle loses its Iron Sights when placed in interactable objects in Creative, such as an Item Placer.
    • This is also a trait similar to one's seen with the Modular Weapons, suggesting they share either similar code or were planned to have Weapon Mod capability
      • Much like those weapons, the rarity glow does not affect the Iron Sights like they do on weapons Pre-Chapter 5.
      • This is even further reinforced by the Exotic variant even showing its Weapon Mod Slots if forcibly modded via UEFN Content Service on a published Island.
