The Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun is a Shotgun in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was added in Chapter 5: Season 2.
The Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun has a Mythic variant called Cerberus' Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun and an unmoddable version called the Gatekeeper Shotgun.

The Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun is a fast firing, close range shotgun that deals a high amount of damage with a low magazine capacity and fires a unique triangular pellet spread.
The Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun is a Hitscan weapon that fires a spread of 10 pellets when both aiming down sights and hipfiring. Aiming down sights tightens the spread of pellets.
Damage falloff:
- Damage falloff begins at 9 meters (1.8 tiles).
- Damage steadily decreases to 75% of its maximum at 15 meters (3 tiles).
- Damage steadily decreases to 35% of its maximum at 21 meters (4.2 tiles).
- Damage reaches its minimum value of 25% of its maximum at 27 meters (5.4 tiles) and does not do damage beyond it.

- Players unfamiliar with the Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun may be very reluctant to use it due to its triangular crosshair. This weapon has a short but quite twisted learning curve of which, when mastered, will make this shotgun very efficient.
- The Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun possesses a very unique range of effectiveness, whose specific parameters can easily be neglected in the heat of combat—even by very skilled players. Fire it at a reasonably close distance to prevent the weapon from suffering damage falloff or fall back if you are at an HP or reloading disadvantage.
- A viable mod combo for the Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun is the
Drum Mag,
Laser, and
Muzzle Brake.
- The
Drum Mag increases the weapon's magazine size from 3 to 5. - The
Laser tightens the weapon's spread, allowing for more consistent shots. - The
Muzzle Brake reduces the recoil of the weapon.
- The
- Precision is key when it comes to aiming the Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun. Regardless of its modifications, it has a very limited number of shots compared to other weapons. Treat it like a hybrid between the Pump Shotgun and the Tactical Shotgun, as it wields the latter's speed but harnesses the former’s damage and magazine.
- The remarkable firing speed of the Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun makes it possible to substitute a long-range weapon in place of your Submachine Gun, as you can use the Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun to make quick work of your opponents, and finish them off with an Assault Weapon should you miss some shots on your target with your first gun.
- It is entirely up to preference and skill when choosing between using a regular Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun of Epic or Legendary rarity, or its Mythic variant. The first option allows you to attack defensively with an understandably below-average reload speed, provided you are using the
Drum Mag, while the second has a faster fire rate for an aggressive play style at the cost of a smaller amount of shots available. Choose the one that you think is best for you.

- The Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun is a weapon that rewards a very aggressive, in-your-face playstyle, so carrying some form of mobility item to keep distance between an opponent wielding it, and a strong mid-long-range weapon to take them out as they attempt to close the gap can be very effective.

- From its stats and its appearance, the Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun is considered a Triple Barrel Shotgun.
- The configuration of the barrels results in the Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun having a triangular crosshair, and as such fires its pellets in a triangular spread due to this.
- The Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun and Modular Combat Shotgun are the only shotguns in the game to have the same Max Damage Cap for all rarities.
- The Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun is the fourth shotgun to reload its entire magazine at once, the others being the Drum Shotgun, Primal Shotgun, and Modular Frenzy Auto Shotgun.
