- — In-Game Description
Zero Build is a PvP (Player-versus-Player) mode in Fortnite that was released on March 29th 2022 as a variant of Battle Royale. Players must drop onto an island and fight to be the last one surviving in Solo, Duos, Trios, or Squads. In this mode, building is disabled, but the Overshield is enabled.
Gameplay
Gameplay[]
Zero Build's gameplay is identical to Battle Royale, however there are notable changes.
- Building is disabled. As such, materials such as Wood, Stone, and Metal are not included.
- The Overshield is enabled, adding 50 effective HP for a maximum of 250. Eliminating enemies replenishes Overshield.
- Start each match with a Pistol, a Small Shield Potion, and a "Pocket Item".
- Glider Redeploy is enabled.
- Equipping the Pickaxe grants infinite stamina when active.
- When dropping from the Battle Bus, the Glider will not automatically deploy. Players can also retract their Gliders to freefall to the ground, although this runs the risk of taking fall damage.
- Weapons deal decreased damage to buildings.
- Reboot Vans have reduced timers.
Features
Features[]
No Building / Pocket Items[]
Hence the name, Building is disabled in Zero Build, forcing players to make use of natural cover. To compensate, weapons deal significantly less damage to buildings and structures.
In its place, there are Pocket Items. These are Utility Items that are held in an exclusive sixth slot in a player's inventory, in addition to the five items that the player can freely equip or exchange out in their hotbar. They can be activated by pressing the keybind typically reserved for Building in Battle Royale, although their usage is restricted by cooldowns. Players start each match with one Pocket Item, and they can be swapped out at a Vending Machine.
Overshield and Movement[]
Once the player disembarks the Battle Bus, the Overshield begins to charge. This acts as the player's first layer of protection against damage before Shield and Health become affected. Unlike the latter two, Overshield will regenerate if it is damaged or destroyed, given if the player remains unharmed for a period of time. Overshield can also be restored by eliminating players, acting similarly to siphon.
In addition, the Glider will not automatically deploy while freefalling towards the Island, allowing greater flexibility when approaching a location to land at. Players can also retract and redeploy the Gliders to get to the ground faster, although this runs the risk of taking serious fall damage. On the ground, Glider Redeploy is enabled for all players during the match, and wielding the Pickaxe grants infinite stamina.
Strategy Guide
Strategy Guide[]
|
This section outlines a strategy. |
| Feel free to add tips, tricks and general advice about the topic. |
- Try not to stay out in the open, as the absence of building can get you eliminated quickly.
- Utilize movement efficiently; Sprint in open areas, mantle over cover, and slide down stairs and hills to avoid enemy fire as much as possible.
- Use vehicles to get around the island safely.
- In case you are caught in the open, carry mobility items such as Shockwave Grenades or Rift-To-Gos to get you out of trouble.
- Carry Port-A-Bunkers or Big Bush Bombs to make your own cover in case you are caught in the open.
- Make sure to carry longer-ranged weapons with you alongside close-range weapons so you aren't defenseless against enemies with rifles at long range, or submachine guns/shotguns at close range.
- If you have no cover around you, try not to stay still to make it harder for opponents to hit you.
- Staying on the outside of the map is smart as the large cliffs cover you and its harder to hit you in the water
- In the ranked mode, Playing for placement will be a bonus as even if you get kills if you die early in the match you will not rank up as much
