Save the World v40.00 - Progression Update[]

Update v40.00 - Patch Notes - Save the World

Hey everyone! With Free-to-Play around the corner, we’ve taken a closer look at in-game progression to make the journey from your first Mission to endgame feel smoother and more rewarding.

Save the World has always rewarded mastery and with v40.00, we’re making the path to that mastery clearer and more meaningful as you grow stronger, whether you prefer to play solo or with a team. Let’s break it down.

Simplified Progression

Simplified Progression[]

We’re streamlining several progression systems to make your growth more intuitive, rewarding, and easier to follow. Growing stronger will rely more on Mission participation, with less micromanagement along the way.

Rewards & Loot Changes[]

  • Loot drops will be spread more evenly across all zones, making each find feel more meaningful.
  • Heroes, Survivors, Defenders, and Schematics earned through Quests and Mission Alerts will be granted at an appropriate Level and Tier that match the difficulty of the completed Mission:
    • Mission Alert rewards will be based on the completed Mission’s difficulty.
    • For Quests, this only applies if the Quest requires you to complete a Mission at or above a certain difficulty.

People and Schematic Upgrades[]

We’re reducing the number of resource types needed to upgrade your items. Hero XP and Survivor XP will be replaced by a new resource type called People XP, which is used to level up your Heroes, Survivors and Defenders.

Weapon Designs and Trap Designs will be replaced by a new resource type called Schematic Manuals, which is used to evolve your Schematics.

People and Schematic XP gains will also be slightly higher in Stonewood and Plankerton to help new players get up to speed.

Research Revamp[]

Found a cool weapon or Trap you want to hang onto?

After looting at least one weapon or Trap and successfully completing a Mission, you’ll earn a Schematic Research Token. Contribute to the Mission success to earn one! Back at Homebase, you’ll be able to use that Token to research one weapon or Trap found during that Mission into an identical Schematic, turning exciting drops into lasting additions to your arsenal.

You can hold only one Token at a time. If you earn another while already holding one, the game will auto-claim the oldest Token, prioritizing the weapon or Trap with the highest rarity and Power Rating. If there’s still a tie, one will be selected randomly.

We’ll be actively reviewing progression, rewards and Mission balance, keeping a close eye on your feedback as we head into v40.00 and beyond.

Note: Founders will continue earning V-Bucks through Daily Quests, Mission Alerts, Storm Shield Defense Missions, and existing Challenges.

PS[]

To answer some of the questions:

  • Existing Hero/Survivor XP will be merged into People XP with a 1:1 exchange.
    • 1 Hero XP = 1 People XP, 1 Survivor XP = 1 People XP
  • Research Tokens will not be awarded for completing Missions in Ventures.
  • Loot drops come from in-world objects like Chests, Gifts, Wildlife etc.
  • Training Manuals are staying - we need them to evolve Heroes, Defenders and Survivors!
