Season 4, with the slogan Brace for Impact, was the fourth season of Fortnite: Battle Royale. It started on May 1st, 2018 and ended on July 11th, 2018. The season's theme revolved around superheroes.
This season introduced cinematic trailers and lore into Battle Royale.
Storyline
Storyline[]
Summary of Last Season[]
In Season 3, a meteor appeared in the sky of the Athena island. As the meteor approached the island, the inhabitants of the island began placing telescopes, camps, and signs around the island, all looking towards the meteor. During the final days of the season, small meteor fragments would crash into the island during matches.
The Season Begins[]
As the season began, the meteor from last season, as well as many meteor fragments, had finally crashed onto the island and damaging several areas on the island. The largest fragment crashed into the Factory and Dusty Depot, resulting in Dusty Divot. The smaller fragments landed around the island, hitting Tilted Towers, the Prison, Risky Reels, and the Motel.
The entirety of the Factory and half of Dusty Depot was destroyed from the largest meteor fragment. The fragment that landed at Tilted Towers destroyed most of the center building and the fragment that crashed into the Prison destroyed most of the prisons center. The fragment that landed at Risky Reels destroyed half of the cinema screen and landed amongst the densely packed cars and the final, tiny fragment, landed at the Motel, flipping over a bus and crashing into the motel roof.
Season 4[]
The meteor left behind Hop Rocks in the crater of Dusty Divot, these rocks grant Loopers who consume them a low-gravity effect for a short duration. After the impact, the The Government (also known as the the Unnamed Investigation Agency, or U.I.A) built a research facility at Dusty Divot to research and investigate a mysterious glowing rock which was left by the meteor.
While this was happening, a movie titled "It came from Moisty Mire" was being filmed near Moisty Mire when a meteor fragment crashed into the Prison. It was revealed that the supervillain Omega was freed from the Prison because of the meteor fragment, Omega began to assemble an army of augmented soldiers in his Villain Lair. In response, the superheroes, led by Carbide, began to formulate a plan at the Hero Mansion. However, all of this was later revealed to be part of the movie in the That's a Wrap! loading screen.
As time went on, The Government began filling in smaller craters and construction crews started rebuilding destroyed parts of Risky Reels and Tilted Towers. At the same time, the glowing rock in Dusty Divot began to crack and open, revealing a mysterious pod containing The Visitor, later revealed to be a member of The Seven. The Visitor broke out of the pod and trashed the research facility, and after escaping to the Villain Lair, transformed the fake rocket from the superhero movie into a real rocket by using Hop Rocks stolen from The Government.
After all of this, a hologram appeared in the Villain Lair which projected a three-day countdown for the Blast Off event on June 27th, 2018, followed by the countdown being broadcast on all televisions on the island and then a siren began blaring at the Villain Lair which could be heard from everywhere on the island.
Event and Aftermath[]
Once the countdown ended, the rocket (piloted by The Visitor) took off from the Villain Lair, leaving behind a thick trail of smoke as it ascended into the sky. It momentarily stopped mid-air to break off the rocket booster, before accelerating once more. Upon reaching a high altitude, the rocket shut off it's engines and stalled mid-air, before plummeting back down towards the island. As the rocket fell, The Visitor spoke, saying "Zero Point Oscillator on, setting coordinates. Engaging quantum field accelerator". The rocket then activated a laser that pointed to the center of Tilted Towers, and boosted towards the location. However, before the rocket hit, The Visitor activated a device which created a tear through space-time called a rift. The rocket entered the Rift and exited from one over Moisty Mire, flying across the island before entering another Rift near Snobby Shores. Finally, the rocket exited from a Rift at Loot Lake and accelerated into the sky, creating a giant Rift in the sky, known as a crack in the sky.
While the previous rifts created by the rocket closed, the crack in the sky did not, appearing to be permanent. As time went on, the crack in the sky began to crack more and more, causing space-time around the island to destabilize. As the season was coming to a close, small rifts began appearing around the island, rifting away objects such as the Tomato Town mascot, the Motel sign, and the Durr Burger head. As objects were rifted away, objects were also rifted onto the island from other realities such as a Viking ship anchor, dinosaur bones, and an ancient wagon.

Update v4.00
May 1st 2018
- The meteor has crashed into Dusty Depot scattering rubble over the area, partially destroying the location and creating a crater, where a research facility was built around the meteor to find out what is inside it, creating Dusty Divot.
- A drive-in theater known as Risky Reels was built, it was also damaged by a meteorite.
- A mansion was built southeast of Lonely Lodge with a secret underground area and a open side that led into a cliff, which served as the Heroes' base.
- Loot Lake has been hit with rubble from the impact of the meteor in Dusty Depot.
- A Villain Lair with a Rocket and a Launch pad was added on top of a mountain east of Snobby Shores.
- A secret base was added 3-basement underneath the blue house of Salty Springs. The base has also a control system and a gym.
- A meteorite crashed into the office building at Tilted Towers, destroying the building.
- A meteorite has crashed into the Prison, destroying the middle area.
- Moisty Mire was converted into a large production set with green screens, props and stages.
- A warehouse in Yonder Yard was replaced with a club.
- Movie sets were added around the Island:
- Shifty Shafts houses were revamped.

- All 3 dancefloors added in previous season got removed.
- The central facility in Dusty Divot was covered up by some roof panels.
- A mysterious bunker was added in Wailing Woods.
Update v4.20
May 16th 2018
- The crater in Tilted Towers was patched up. A dump truck is clearing the debris and remains of furniture from the destroyed area.
- The progress on The Meteor's excavation is halfway done. A metallic container can be seen through certain areas of the meteor.
- A Fork Knife food truck appeared in Retail Row.
- The movie titles on the Risky Reels marquee board were updated:

May 30th 2018
- Dusty Divot's meteorite excavation is almost completed. Trees and grass started growing in the crater area.

- The movie titles on the Risky Reels marquee board were updated:
- "Dusty Impact" - reference to "Deep Impact", a 1998 science fiction disaster film.
- "The Hills are Hunted"
- "The Cabin in Wailing Woods" - reference to "The Cabin in the Woods", a 2012 horror comedy film
- Tilted Towers Hop Rocks convoy has reached the Sports Center and is heading towards the Villain Lair.
- Trucks were flipped on the outer crater near southwest of Pleasant Park.
- Omega and Carbide posters have appeared on the Island.
- Dancing platform and a disco ball was added inside of the Northern Factory in Loot Lake.
- The Fork Knife food truck moved to Greasy Grove.
Update v4.40
June 11th 2018
- Open Soccer Stadium was added, replacing the Starry Suburbs Ruins.
- Dusty Divot meteor excavation was completed. An empty space pod was found at the core of the rock. Cars and a chopper on area of the west part have been flipped. Trees and grass continues to grow in Dusty Divot.
- The Hop Rocks convoy from Tilted Towers is now approaching Snobby Shores
- Wooden ramps have appeared on the mountain near south of Pleasant Park.
- Hop Rocks and meteorite fragments have been found at the Villain Lair.
- Craters on Risky Reels was completely patched up.
- The Fork Knife food truck moved to Open Soccer Stadium.
- The movie titles on the Risky Reels marquee board were updated:
- "The Beautiful Game" - possible reference to The Beautiful Game, better known as "The Match", a 1999 romantic comedy film.

- The Crashed Battle Bus has changed design and now has a proper deflated balloon prop.
- Demolition of the old building in Tilted Towers is almost complete by a demolishing crane.
- The Hop Rocks convoy from Risky Reels is now passing through Anarchy Acres.
- Crater near the Fatal Fields is being patched up. The convoy is being escorted west across the bridge.
- Soccer goal pitches appeared in many places around the map:
Update v4.50
June 27th 2018
- A detective agency office was at the vacant space of Retail Row's commercial area.
- The movie titles on the Risky Reels marquee board were updated:

- Crater on the southeast of Retail Row was filled up. The Hop Rocks convoy from the crater started moving.
- Convoy from Risky Reels is now in Pleasant Park.
- Crater near Fatal Fields was completely patched up. The Hop Rocks convoy is on their way to Greasy Grove.
- The crater near Haunted Hills have been also completely patched up. The convoy is heading to the Villain Lair.
- A new building is under construction on the patched up crater in Tilted Towers.
- Cars and equipments have moved from the Dusty Divot site and has been deserted. Grass and trees continues to grow up to the central site of the divot. Few Hop Rocks in the area still remain.
- The Rocketship in the Villain Lair was fully upgraded.
- A 72-hour countdown timer can be seen flashing on the televisions.
- A siren can be heard coming from the Villain Lair.
Blast Off
- The Rocket blasted off, creating the giant Crack in the Sky in the process.
- Rocket's thruster can be found in Anarchy Acres.
- Following the Rocket launch, a rift has appeared in Lonely Lodge.
