Loopers

Overview

Loopers is a term that was initially referring to people from across The Omniverse captured by the Imagined Order, taken to Reality Zero and imprisoned in The Loop, an artificial 22-minute time loop where most Loopers lose their memories and their ability to speak and fight incessantly.

After the destruction of Reality Zero, Loopers scattered in The Omniverse inhabiting several Realities such as Reality: UN-88, Reality: 783, Reality: UN-149 and Reality: 266; some of these realities also feature a Loop,[8] although in these, the Loopers are not forced to fight each other and do not lose their memories or their ability to speak, leaving them free to live their lives lives without real constraint.[9]

Additionally, in alternate timelines that diverged directly from Reality Zero, such as Reality: Unknown, The Loop continued to exist.

Overview

Overview[]

In order to find the perfect organizational system for the perfect civilization, the Imagined Order conceived The Loop for their research and used The Zero Point to kidnap people from various realities and trap them in The Loop, in order to study them in that environment. These people became known as Loopers.

Due to their prolonged existence in The Loop, which can last decades, centuries, or even millennia for the oldest of them, most Loopers acquire combat and survival skills well above normal as they are forced to fight to the death perpetually against everyone else, until they manage to escape.

The Imagined Order also used them as assets against problematics Loopers they didn't wanted to escape The Loop yet, such as Batman, using the Hunter Snake Eyes for that mission.

Snapshots are special Loopers. Unlike others people, they are not kidnapped people, but people born in Reality Zero. They are perfect duplicates of Loopers who escaped The Loop and therefore possess the memories, skills and appearance of their original at the time they escape The Loop. The Joneses who are themselves snapshots and fully aware of it. They The Joneses, who are themselves snapshots and fully aware of it, describe the phenomenon as echoes of what once a person was.[10] The Foundation seems to consider the Snapshots as simply fakes.[11]

A unique individual, as well as the character embodied by the player. Their behavior differs greatly from other Loopers, such as when they helped Jones and The Foundation instead of fighting during Zero Crisis Finale. Several people such as Lexa and Raz revealed they could be the ruler of The Loop[12] and the master of the Island[13] if they wanted to. Unlike most other Loopers, they were able to talk, as they were able to discuss with Bunker Jonesy, who revealed to them some of the secrets of The Loop.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • In Reality Zero, a looper can escape the loop by either:
    • Being the last person alive in the center of the Storm Eye as the loop resets.
    • Traveling a portal of the unstable Zero Point or a Rift leading to another Reality.
  • Some rare Loopers were not affected by the loss of memories and speech, without being protected.
    • This included most of The Joneses, although some of their memories were nonetheless damaged and permanently lost because Jones had travelled far too many times inside The Loop.[14]
    • Harley Quinn was also unnaffected by The Loop in Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point.
    • At least from Chapter 2: Season 5, The Looper became able to talk to other Loopers and remember previous Loops. Both The Foundation and Jones were aware of it during Chapter 2: Season 6 and tried to get their help[15] after their collaboration to seal The Zero Point during Zero Crisis.
