Seasons[]

Seasons in Fortnite OG follow a roughly bimonthly release schedule. The release of each season brings a substantial amount of the content released during that season; the remaining content is typically introduced through an update partway through that season.

Gameplay

Gameplay[]

Starting a Match

Upon loading into a Fortnite OG match, players will spawn on the Spawn Island, where they will wait until the lobby is large enough for the game to be started. When roughly 100 players have loaded in, or a certain amount of time passes (if the player threshold is unlikely to be met), a countdown for the Battle Bus' launch will begin.

After this timer ends, all players will be teleported into the Battle Bus, where they can jump out of the bus and skydive towards a location. While skydiving from the Battle Bus, the player's selected Moment will play.

Tilted Towers (S4) - Location - Fortnite OG

Locations

Upon jumping out of the Battle Bus, players will have a choice of which location to skydive towards. Each location contains Chests and Ammo Boxes that the player can loot to obtain items. If a player has not yet visited a Named Location, it will appear grey on the minimap as the player has not yet 'discovered' it.

Eliminating Opponents

In order to progress through a Battle Royale match, players are required to eliminate opponents that are not on their team; the player's teammates show their usernames or a white indicator above their head, whereas enemy players do not. Opponents are eliminated when enough damage is dealt to them so that their health reaches zero. All players spawn with 100 Health and 0 Shields (additional health); players can increase their health and shields using Consumables.

In Solo, when a player's health is depleted, they are immediately removed from the match, however in team-based gamemodes, the player will be knocked, unable to deal any damage to their opponents, so that their team can revive them. After 50 seconds, or if the knocked player receives 100 additional damage, the player will be eliminated and their Reboot Card will be dropped.

If the player's squad manages to collect their reboot card within 4 1⁄2 minutes and can locate a

Reboot Van, the player can be brought back into the game, however they will lose all of their collected items.

Weapons and Items

All players will spawn with their Pickaxe, capable of doing small amounts of close-range melee damage, however players will need to quickly find ranged and stronger weapons from chests so that they can defend themselves against other players. Chests can also drop utility, damage, and healing items, which can assist the player in things such as mobility. There are 5 rarities of weapons and items (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary), with each consecutive rarity of weapon having better stats than the previous rarity. The same weapon often comes in multiple rarities, whereas items often only have one rarity each.

Building

In Fortnite OG, building is normally enabled. Players can use their Pickaxe to gather either Wood, Stone, or Metal. These materials can be used to build structures using walls, floors, stairs, and roofs. Wood is the weakest material, but the fastest to build and easiest to obtain, whereas Metal is the strongest material but the slowest to build and hardest to obtain. Player-built structures can be edited before and after being placed to include a door, window, railing, etc. Enemy-built structures cannot be edited by people who aren't on their team, so the player must break their structures, either by shooting them or using their pickaxe, instead.

The Storm

The Storm is a gameplay mechanic that is designed to keep players close together; each Fortnite OG match has a safe zone, indicated by a large circle on the map, which slowly shrinks during the game. Players must stay in the safe zone to avoid taking damage from The Storm. For the first minute of a match, there is no safe zone as the storm has not yet formed, however after 1 minute, the storm will form and the first safe zone will be marked on the map. After the safe zone appears, players will have a short amount of time to make their way into the next zone before the storm closes in on the zone. After the storm has finished shrinking, the next zone will appear, smaller than the previous one. The process of the safe zone being revealed, the storm shrinking, and then another safe zone being revealed is called a Storm Phase, and there are 9 per game unless the game ends before the final phase. With each phase, the DPS (damage per second) of the storm may increase. The Storm directly damages the player's health, ignoring their shields. During some of the later phases, a safe zone can form inside of the storm, forcing players to move with the storm into the new safe zone. On the 12th phase, the storm will close so that there is no safe zone remaining, causing all players to take storm damage for the remainder of the match.

Victory Royale

Once the last team or player remains, the remaining player(s) will win the match and will receive a Victory Royale, alongside a Victory Crown for their next match. Having a victory crown means that a player will gain more XP for certain actions, in exchange for having a short audio prompt that plays with each Storm Phase. If a player wins while in possession of a Crown, they will receive a Crowned Victory Royale. First-time Crowned victors receive the Crowning Achievement emote, which showcases the amount of Crowned Victory Royales the player has. Crowned Victory Royales reset each season.

The Meteor has appeared in the sky of the island.

A small camp appeared on a building in Tilted Towers with signs with a UFO drawing and text that read "~~Today~~ Tomorrow".
Televisions around the island began broadcasting a test-pattern graphic of a Llama and unintelligible audio.
- The TV broadcast contains morse code that says "It is happening ag..."

Meteorites began falling from the sky during matches.
- The amount of meteorites would increase as the match progressed.

OG Chapter 1: Season 4[]

June 7th 2025

The meteor has crashed into Dusty Depot scattering rubble over the area, partially destroying the location and creating a crater, where a research facility was built around the meteor to find out what is inside it, creating Dusty Divot.
A drive-in theater known as Risky Reels was built, it was also damaged by a meteorite.
A mansion was built southeast of Lonely Lodge with a secret underground area and a open side that led into a cliff, which served as the Heroes' base.
- An erratic array of wooden and brick stairs can be found on the cliffside, referencing a Ninja lowlight from the original Season 4.
Loot Lake has been hit with rubble from the impact of the meteor in Dusty Depot.
A Villain Lair with a Rocket and a Launch pad was added on top of a mountain east of Snobby Shores.
A meteorite crashed into the office building at Tilted Towers, destroying the building.
A meteorite has crashed into the Prison, destroying the middle area.
A movie set was added into Moisty Mire.
The depot building at Yonder Yard has been replaced with a dance club.
Wooden ramps have appeared on Stunt Mountain.
A Movie Set was added east of Junk Junction, replacing 2 houses.
A secret underground base was added underneath the blue house in Salty Springs.
A meteorite has crashed into the Motel, nearly destroying the sign and creating a crater.
- More meteorites have crashed into the Island, all of them have a convoy of cars and trucks around them.
All 3 dancefloors added in previous season got removed.
For some reason, the brick hut to the northwest of Loot Lake is missing.

June 14th 2025

A Fork Knife Food Truck has appeared in Retail Row.

The central building at Dusty Divot was covered.
A Mysterious Hatch has appeared in Wailing Woods.
- The bunker contains morse code through blinking lights that translates to "Something is wrong"
The crater at Tilted Towers has been patched up. A dump truck is clearing the debris and remains of furniture in the destroyed area.
A Hop Rock convoy has appeared in Tilted Towers.
- It was mistakenly present in both Tilted Towers and Sports Center for some time.
The excavation of the meteor in Dusty Divot is halfway done. A metallic object can be seen through certain areas of the meteor.
Trees and grass have started growing in Dusty Divot.
A campsite not present in Season 4 has appeared on top of Dusty Mountain.

June 21st 2025

The crater in Risky Reels is being patched up.
The Tilted Towers Hop Rock convoy has reached the Sports Center and is heading to the Villain Lair.
- It previously was accidentally present in both Tilted Towers and Sports Center for some time.

June 24th 2025

Omega and Carbide posters have appeared on the Island.

July 15th 2025

The Dusty Divot meteor excavation is complete, and an empty space pod was found at the center of the meteor. The research facility is being abandoned and trees and grass keep growing inside the crater.
The Hop rock convoy from Tilted Towers is now approaching Snobby Shores.
Hop Rocks and meteorite fragments appeared inside of the Villain Lair.
The crater in Risky Reels was completely patched up.
Heavy equipment started tearing down the remains of the destroyed building at Tilted Towers.
The Hop rock convoy from Risky Reels is now passing through Anarchy Acres.
The crater near Fatal Fields is being patched up, the convoy is being escorted west across Orange Steel Bridge.
The Fork Knife Food Truck has left Retail Row and appeared in Greasy Grove.
The Prison crater is being patched up, the convoy is starting to leave the location.

July 23rd 2025

The Rocket in the Villain Lair has been fully upgraded.
A 3-day countdown has appeared in TVs around the Island as well as in the control panel by the Rocket.
A klaxon can be heard coming from the Villain Lair, ringing every hour.

Blast Off

The countdown has expired and the Rocket has launched, flying around the Island until eventually it boosted into the sky and disappeared after creating a red Crack in the Sky. The Rocket's thruster fell into Anarchy Acres.
Following the Rocket launch, a rift has appeared in Lonely Lodge.
The Crack in the Sky began growing.

July 27th 2025

The sign in Lonely Lodge was rifted away.
A rift started forming around the Motel sign.
New part of The Crack in the Sky has opened above the mountain near Greasy Grove.

July 28th 2025

The part of The Crack in the Sky above the mountain near Greasy Grove has expanded.

July 29th 2025

A detective agency was added to Retail Row.
The Fork Knife Food Truck has left Greasy Grove.
The crater southeast of Retail Row has been patched up. The convoy is south of Retail Row.
The Prison convoy is on their way through Fatal Fields.
- The convoy is also still present near the staring position for an unknown reason.
The crater near Fatal Fields has been patched up, the convoy is on their way to Greasy Grove.
- The convoy is also still present on Orange Steel Bridge for an unknown reason.
Cars and equipment have left Dusty Divot, leaving the research facility deserted. Trees and grass continue to grow, and very few Hop Rocks are left.
The crater near Starry Suburbs Ruins has been patched, the convoy is between Junk Junction and Haunted Hills.
The convoy from Risky Reels is east of Pleasant Park.

A new building is under construction on the patched up crater in Tilted Towers.
The Motel sign was rifted away.
- It can be found in Venture in Fortnite: Reload
A rift started forming around the rotating Tomato Head in Tomato Town.

Moisty Mire was replaced by the Desert, bringing in a new city with it, Paradise Palms, located at the place of the Stagecoach originally rifted into Moisty Mire.
- For an unknown reason, Paradise Palms uses the Season X sign instead of the Season 5 sign.
Slurp Cacti can be found in the desert biome.
Added new Unnamed Locations:
- Dino Park
- Junkyard
- Pueblo
- The Burger
- Cacti Forest
- Trucker's Oasis
- The Birthplace
- Roadside Diner
- Calamity's Residence
Prison, Convenience Store, Circle of Hedges, Wooden Crab, and Truck Coast were removed along with Moisty Mire.
The Race Track southeast of Retail Row was revamped with a proper concrete race track.
A fancy golf club named Lazy Links was rifted onto the Island, replacing Anarchy Acres.

7 Moai Heads were added around the Island.
Most of the movie sets were removed.
The drive-in section has been lined up with cars. Flipped cars and destroyed houses' roofs were fixed.
A tombstone was added east of Paradise Palms to pay homage to the "greatest rescue mission in Fortnite^[1]".
- This time an erratic array of wooden and brick stairs can be found above it, referencing the failed rescue attempt.
Ramps were added in many places around the Island.
The rest of the Meteor Craters have been patched up.
The rest of the Hop Rock Convoys have disappeared.
A Wooden Wolf can be found on a hill by Greasy Grove.
A "MOON" sign appeared in Retail Row, replacing the missing NOMS sign.
Some stage lights and a speaker were added inside of the Northern Factory in Loot Lake.
Wooden and brick stairway behind Hero Mansion was removed.
Speakers inside of the Club in Yonder Yard are now different colors.

Revin the Cube has reached the waters of Loot Lake and melted in it. Loot Lake turned red and became bouncy similar to the effect and the appearance of The Cube.

OG Chapter 1: Season 6[]

October 2nd 2025

The Cube has risen from the waters of Loot Lake, creating the Floating Island.
- Loot Lake was renamed to Leaky Lake.
The seven runes The Cube imprinted into the ground corrupted the land around them, spawning Havoc Stones, with up to three chests around each rune, similar to the Moai Heads back in Season 5. Red rifts can be found around them.
- All runes were reverted to the ones found in original Season 6.
Haunted Castle was added on a hill near Haunted Hills.
Four log cabins were added to Wailing Woods. Every one of the cabins has a secret room in the basement whose entrance is hidden behind a wardrobe.
- The building in the hedge maze was turned into a secret underground laboratory.
Villain Lair and Hero Mansion started decaying.
The shack by Fatal Fields that was destroyed by the Cube is now under re-construction.
A Hey Boo! halloween store has appeared in Retail Row at the previously unoccupied space between McGuffin's bookstore and the unnamed camping equipment shop.
Demolition crew moved in and started demolishing the remains of the destroyed sporting goods shop in Tilted Towers.
The soccer pitch in Pleasant Park was changed into an American football pitch.
"No Swimming" signs have appeared around Leaky Lake.
Depot Race Track was added around Starry Suburbs Ruins.
Wooden Wolf was removed.
The wooden and brick stairs east of Paradise Palms were removed.
An infamous covered wooden bridge was added above the river by Tilted Towers.
The "MOON" sign was replaced by a regular NOMS sign in Retail Row.
A duplicate of the broken house in Retail Row appeared by Salty Springs.
Fatal Fields was turned into a halloween theme park, complete with three haunted houses and a field maze.
The Fork Knife food truck moved to Fatal Fields.
Lucky Temple's rotation was fixed.
All Moai Heads were removed.
TACOS building from Tilted Towers appeared in Outskirts.
Greasy Grove's Durrr Burger restaurant was closed due to a "bug problem".
A floating chair can be found by Greasy Grove.

The Cube lifted up the rune, causing it to absorb the rune's power which made small Cube parts grow in the basement of the house.

October 6th 2025

The Cube absorbed enough power, placing the rune back into the ground and leaving a beam of light.
- The island started moving towards the rune beside Shifty Shafts.

October 7th 2025

The Cube lifted up the rune, causing it to absorb the rune's power which made more small Cube parts grow in the basement of the house.

The Floating Island moved back to its starting position and created a sky portal with a beam attaching it to the island.

Cube Monsters no longer spawn.
Portals have appeared in the secret underground laboratory in Wailing Woods.
The Hey Boo! Halloween Store in Retail Row closed. Leaving the spot boarded up and vacant.
- The rest of the Halloween decor was also removed.
Fatal Fields was reverted back to its pre-Halloween form.
Crashed food trucks can now be found in Junk Junction.

The mechanic to aim down sights while reloading has been disabled from the mode with Update v39.00.
Fortnite OG had been theorized and teased to become a permanent mode since Early 2024 because of Chapter 4: Season OG's significant success in November 2023.
The mode features many weapons and items that have not been seen since Chapter 1: Season 1, such as the Wall Dynamo, Ceiling Zapper, Directional Jump Pad, Zapotron, Guided Missile and the Submachine Gun.
- Despite building being primarily disabled in OG Zero Build, the Wall Dynamo, Ceiling Zapper and Directional Jump Pad could be acquired and placed on buildings.
After criticism of their absence in Season OG, this game mode also features the original weapon models and icons from Chapter 1; their first re-appearance since their removal. However, notably, some weapons still had their old icons and models:
- The high tier Assault Rifle, Scoped Assault Rifle, Epic/Legendary Rocket Launcher and Epic/Legendary Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle were fixed with the launch of OG Chapter 1: Season 2.
- The Tactical Shotgun's icon was fixed with the launch of OG Chapter 1: Season 3.
- The low tier Assault Rifle, Semi-Auto Pistol, and inventory icon for the Hand Cannon were fixed in a mid-season update during OG Chapter 1: Season 4.
- The high tier Burst Assault Rifle icon was fixed in Fortnite: Creative only with the launch of OG Chapter 1: Season 5.
- The Submachine Gun, Compact SMG, and Hunting Rifle icons were fixed with Update v37.10.
- As of OG Chapter 1: Season 7 only the icons of the Rift-To-Go, Port-A-Fortress, and high tier Burst Assault Rifle are incorrect.
This mode marks the first time Moisty Mire, Anarchy Acres, Leaky Lake, and Happy Hamlet have made a re-appearance in an Epic-made gamemode since their removal over 2300 days prior.
The codename for Fortnite OG is "Figment", which may imply that this gamemode takes place in a character's imagination.
- Despite this, Fortnite OG is revealed to be in its own universe after the rotating Tomato Head from Tomato Town was rifted into Oninoshima, the Battle Royale island for Chapter 6. Revin the Cube and The Visitor (Reality Unknown) reappeared in the Zero Hour Finale Event and Chapter 7 respectively for the mainstream Battle Royale universe.
Despite the "feature" originally being an oversight, Epic brought back the ability Double Pump when Fortnite OG first released. However, they forgot to patch it out during Season 5, which is when the feature was originally removed, and the ability to double pump remained until Season 6.
Fortnite OG features the pre-Chapter 4 damage indicators and the pre-Chapter 7 HUD.
- Because of this, when entering a match of Fortnite OG, settings for the Chapter 4 damage indicators appropriately do not show up in the UI Settings menu.
Fortnite OG uses the HUD layout and player movement from Chapter 3: Season 2. It uses the Chapter 5 versions of each of the main healing items.
Fortnite OG was disabled for the first 11 days of Chapter 7: Season 1 without prior warning. This prematurely ended Season 6. Due to this preventing players from unlocking the Kevin 'Brella, Epic granted the umbrella to anyone who had played OG during Season 6.
OG Chapter 1: Season 1, OG Chapter 1: Season 3 and OG Chapter 1: Season 7 are the only 3 season remakes that lasted longer than the original season.
- OG Chapter 1: Season 6 technically also lasted longer, however the mode was inaccessible for the last few days of the season. This meant that, while the OG's Season 6 was accessible for less time than original season, Season 6's OG Pass was available for longer than Season 6's Battle Pass.
Currently, The Block is the only POI that has been entirely omitted from Fortnite OG. This was likely done due to past controversy surrounding the POI. The Block was supposed to crush Risky Reels during Season 7, however it missed and landed in the ocean nearby, leaving a dent on the side of the map and the Block Itself half-submerged in the ocean.
