Buildup[]

Back in Season 5, the Crack Closure event occurred, which spawned Revin the Cube. A bit after Revin's arrival, it has started to move around the map, printing runes while on the journey. It would eventually stop at Loot Lake, where it would sink into the lake and turn the top layer of the water red and bouncy.

At the start of Season 6, Kevin the Cube suddenly took the place of Revin, and lifted the island in Loot Lake into the sky, creating the Floating Island and causing Revin's runes to be converted into it's own's. It then started moving around the map, travelling to each of the new runes, absorbing all their energy and returning to Leaky Lake, where it opened a portal to The Last Reality before splitting into several pieces.

Over the next few days, Kevin began to form cracks that got more and more severe each day. A countdown timer appeared in the lobby on November 3rd. Eventually, on November 7th at 2:00 PM EST, the cracks became so severe that the outer shell of Kevin has broken off, resulting in the nectar coming from it beginning to leak into the whirlpool below.

Event[]

After a day of leaking, Kevin the Cube was finally empty. After the last drop of nectar fell into the whirlpool, The Cube started to spin and emit white light while also turning grey. After several seconds of spinning (and gradually increasing in speed whilst doing so), Kevin finally exploded, and a blinding white light covered all the players' screens. Everyone was teleported to The In-Between, where they happened to spot Revin. After floating around in The In-Between for a while, a giant rift started to form, taking the shape of a giant butterfly. It then started to shrink while moving over to the Looper and flying around them. The Looper eventually stuck out their hand, and the butterfly landed on it, resulting in another flash of light. After that, all Loopers were rifted back to the Island. Leaky Lake was now covered by a new group of islands caused by the Floating Island crashing down into the lake while everyone was in the In-Between. The whirlpool was also sealed up by a central island, containing the now-inactive remains of Kevin.

Trivia[]

• This version of the Butterfly Event was leaked a day or so earlier.^[1]
• A short posted to Fortnite's YouTube channel showed the Loopers touching the butterfly at a distance above the island, instead of in the In-Between.

Differences from Chapter 1[]

• While in the In-Between, the Revin from Season 5 is seen floating there.
  • Some bits of the In-Between have also turned a red hue.

The Butterfly Event was an event that took place on November 4th 2018 at 10:00 AM, PST. It was the Fourth "Live Event" in Fortnite: Battle Royale.

Buildup[]

The lead-up to this event has been going on since the Blast Off event but was really set in motion by the Crack Closure event, when The Cube spawned. The Cube, also known as Kevin, would move around the map, and printed runes. The Cube ended its journey by rolling into Loot Lake, sinking into the lake.

At the start of Season 6, The Cube became active again, as it was revealed to be under the largest island in the middle of Loot Lake. The island rose into the sky, creating the Floating Island. The island started to move around the map, with the cube still attached. After another long saga of the cube moving around the map, it traveled back to the runes that it printed, and took their energy. Once all was said and done, the cube traveled back to the now Leaky Lake, where it started to beam energy into the sky, creating a portal to The Last Reality. This all culminated at the start of Fortnitemares when The Cube discharged a large amount of energy, destroying another Battle Bus and splitting open the island. After a few days of Fortnitemares, The Cube started to crack open, and leak energy into the lake.

After floating around for a while, a giant rift started to form, taking the shape of a giant Butterfly. It multiplied, and started to shrink while moving over to the player. The players stuck out their hands, and the butterflies landed on it. Then another flash of light appeared, and the players were back on the island, and coming down through a rift, with Leaky Lake now being covered by a new group of islands, most likely created by the zero point to protect itself.
