The Defrosting Event was a Live Event in Fortnite: Battle Royale that rang in Winterfest 2024. It occurred on December 20th 2024 from 3:00 PM EST to 4:00 PM EST at the Giant Ice Block south of Brutal Boxcars.

The Event
The Event[]
At 3:00 PM EST, from 4:00 PM EST, when a player would load into a match, the giant ice block would begin to glow as it shattered to reveal Mariah Carey inside. She performed "All I Want For Christmas Is You", showcasing the All I Want For Christmas Is You Emote on stage as the surrounding environment displayed the Northern Lights. After performing the chorus a second time, Mariah glowed one more time and vanished.
During the Event, a safe zone was established that prevented players from damaging each other, but they can still be damaged by The Storm and Fall Damage. Additionally, players inside the safe zone could perform the All I Want For Christmas Is You Emote regardless of ownership.
