The Pump Shotgun is a Shotgun in Fortnite OG that was added in OG Chapter 1: Season 1.
Functionality
Functionality[]
The Pump Shotgun is a high damage, short range and slow firing shotgun, best suited to very close quarters. It has 5 shells in the magazine and must be pumped between shots, leading a slow fire rate. It excels at close range combat with its ability to deal significant damage. At lower rarities, it still does significant damage but is very punishing if you miss. The Pump Shotgun can hit targets at mid-range, but the damage drop off is so high, and the spread so great that only 1 or 2 pellets will hit. The Pump Shotgun reloads 1 shell at a time.
The Pump Shotgun is a Hitscan weapon that fires a spread of 10 pellets when both aiming down sights and hipfiring. Aiming down sights tightens the spread of pellets.

- The Epic and Legendary rarities now use the low tier model and icon.
- Both rarities have broken animations, and other aspects are now inaccurate or broken due to an incorrect asset reference.

Usage[]
- The Pump Shotgun is a very strong Shotgun in Battle Royale due to its high single-shot damage and good hip fire accuracy.
- When using the Pump Shotgun, try to utilize cover between shots. That way, you maximize damage dealt while minimizing damage taken.
- When finding cover, make sure it's in a position where opponents will come toward you on your right. This way you can see them without them seeing you.
- When using the Pump Shotgun at close ranges, make sure to aim for the head, as the headshot damage of the Pump Shotgun is very high.
- However, when nearing the limits of the Pump Shotgun's range, aiming for the upper chest is advised, to make sure you land as many pellets as possible which will maximize the damage dealt.
- In Fortnite OG, if you have a second Shotgun in your inventory, you can quickly change it and fire without delay. Using two Pump Shotguns to do this is known as Double Pumping
- A strategy that was made popular with the introduction of the Sentinel Pump Shotgun, and works with all pump-style Shotguns, is to, when reloading, wait until the magazine count is max, then swap or shoot before the player character primes the shotgun during the reload animation: this cuts the amount of downtime before the weapon can fire again, as that part of the reload animation is unnecessary and happens after the magazine is full.
- When choosing a weapon to counter a Pump Shotgun, your best option is usually your own pump shotgun or another weapon with high single shot damage at close range. There are many weapons that can be effectively paired with the Pump Shotgun.
- For example, pairing the Pump Shotgun with a fast-firing close ranged weapon, such as an SMG, allows for an incredibly deadly close-range combo. Fire the Pump Shotgun to deal high damage, then finish off the opponent with a rapid burst of fire from the SMG.
- You can pair the Pump Shotgun with other different weapon types that deal high amounts of damage in single shots at close range. For example, the Flint-Knock Pistol, Ex-Caliber Rifle, or the Hunting Rifle.
- For opponents hiding in player-built structures, especially ones made of wood, stone, or freshly built metal, you can fire a Rocket Launcher at their structure, then fire your Pump Shotgun at them just as the rocket explodes. If it's timed correctly, you can deal 50+ damage to your opponent fairly easily.
- Selecting a weapon to counter a Pump Shotgun, usually the best option is your own Pump Shotgun or another high single shot damage, close range weapon.
- If you decide to choose a different Shotgun, make sure you choose one that plays to the Pump's weaknesses.
- For example, the Drum Shotgun can counter the Pump Shotgun's poor fire rate, and the Heavy Shotgun can counter the Pump Shotgun's poor range.
- If you don't have a good single shot high damage weapon, try getting into an opponent's box and spraying them with an Assault Rifle or SMG.

- The Pump Shotgun is only at its maximum potential at point-blank range, so keeping distance between yourself and an opponent with a Pump Shotgun can be beneficial.
- The Pump Shotgun has a very slow fire rate, so a faster firing Shotgun, as mentioned above, can easily counter it.

- The Common, Uncommon and Rare models are based on the Remington 870 with rifle sights.
- Its Chapter 1 model was based on the Mossberg 500 Field Gun, as evident by its Safety Switch.
- The Chapter 1 model is shared with the Knight in Fortnite: Save the World.
- Its Epic and Legendary model is based on the Franchi SPAS-12. In real life the SPAS-12 can switch between Semi-automatic and Pump action, hence why its presence in other games may be of a different configuration.
- This is the reason for players often referring to these rarities of Pump Shotguns as "SPAS".
- When reloading, the player does not press down the carrying hatch button on the side of SPAS-12.
- In Save the World The Browbeater uses the same model at identical rarities.
