Strategy Guide

Strategy Guide[]

Calculated - Emote - Fortnite This section outlines a strategy.
Feel free to add tips, tricks and general advice about the topic.
  • The weapon takes several seconds to charge up, and should be only used in situations where the player can afford the extra time to hit an opponent.
  • Because of its massive structure damage, it can be used to easily take walls or destroy cover, regardless of how much the player charges it up.

Counters[]

  • The Zapotron can be easily overwhelmed at close range, due to it needing to charge up to do maximum damage, so keeping within close range and using an SMG or AR can be beneficial when engaging with an opponent wielding a Zapotron.

Battle Royale and Zero Build History[]

  • Hotfix 1: Introduced.
  • Hotfix 2: Vaulted after just over an hour due to it not fitting in with the current state of Battle Royale at the time.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • Due to the Zapotron being in the game for barely over an hour during the Pre-Season, when Fortnite was not as popular as it is today, there is only one known video of someone using it in Battle Royale before it was re-added in OG Chapter 1: Season 2.
  • Despite most people claiming the Zapotron was only in the game for 30 minutes, it was actually in the game for just over an hour.
  • It is the first (and only) weapon in Battle Royale that uses Energy Cells - Ammunition - Fortnite Energy Cells as a pickup. Other weapons use it but have an unlimited version (such as the Kymera Ray Gun)
  • The Zapotron was the first weapon to be removed from Battle Royale.
  • It’s also one of the few to be re-added back to the files.
  • The Zapotron was not technically Vaulted, as its removal was before the concept of The Vault existed.
  • The weapon is very similar to the Legendary Zapotron in Save the World, and speculative statistics are based on the weapon's function in that mode.
  • The Zapotron may have been inspired by the Tau Cannon from the videogame Half-Life.
  • The charge-up mechanic was re-used for the Rail Gun.
  • In an AMA on Reddit in 2019, when asked if the Zapotron would ever return, the official response was simply "The what? 🤔🌩".
