The Ocean is the body of water surrounding the Island in Battle Royale. In Chapter 1, The ocean instantly killed any player that touched it, and destroyed any items dropped into it. In Chapter 2, swimming was an added feature, thus making the ocean swimmable as a form of mobility.

  • The Ocean is added as part of the Battle Royale Map.

Season 6

Update v6.30

  • A snow cloud can be seen heading towards the island in the ocean.

Update v6.31

  • The snow cloud turns out to be an iceberg with a castle at the top.

Season 9

Update v9.20

  • The chunk of ice carrying the Polar Peak castle can been sometimes seen bobbing in the ocean. It is being carried by a monster.

Update v9.30

  • The monster in the ocean can be seen much more frequently.

Season X

The End

  • The Ocean was sucked into a Black Hole.

Chapter 2: Season 1

  • The water level is now leveled with the island, and the ocean is swimmable

Chapter 2: Season 2

The Device

  • Midas activated The Device in an attempt to destroy The Storm that has terrorised the island for years. This fails. The Storm created a Wall Of Water as a Revenge to Midas. This Wall of Water acted identically to the storm, save for a few differences.
    • If players were in it, they were now swimming instead of walking
    • Players would gradually float to the surface which could result in death via fall damage if they exited it at an inopportune time.

Chapter 2: Season 3

  • The Wall of Water created by the aftermath of The Device had now flooded the island and the storm returned to normal.

  • The water level has dropped for the last time, and the ocean now remains at that level to this day.

Chapter 3: Season 4

Fracture

  • The Ocean was also chromed by The Herald and was destroyed.

Chapter 4: Season OG

Update v27.00

  • The Ocean has been reverted back to it's state in Chapter 1, and instantly eliminates players when they try to swim in it.

Chapter 5: Season 1

  • The Ocean has been reverted to its post Chapter 2 state. the ocean will no longer eliminate players and is now swimmable again.

  • The sandstorm has reached the island and the ocean has been reverted back to normal.

  • Galactus' damaged helmet can be found in the ocean just north of the island.
