— In-Game Description

Typhoon Blade is a Utility Item in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was added in Chapter 6: Season 1.

Functionality

Functionality[]

The Typhoon Blade has many different ways of dealing damage:

  • Attack: The player swings the sword in front of them, performing a slash. Holding the trigger button makes the player execute a combo of 7 slashes. Each slash in the combo deals 28 damage, except for the last one, which deals 50, resulting in a total of 218 damage. Landing each slash of this attack on a player, vehicle, or structure will reduce the durability meter by 1 point (0.5%/0.33%).
  • Falling Strike: While in the air, pressing the trigger button makes the player charge a slam-down attack for 1 second before falling significantly faster, dealing 70 damage to any enemy hit.
  • Cyclone Slash: The player remains still for a few seconds before executing a sideways slash, dealing 90 damage and knocking all enemies in front of them approximately 30 meters away. This attack has a cooldown of 9/6.5 seconds. Using this attack will reduce the durability meter by 10 points (5%/3.33%).

The Typhoon Blade also has movement abilities:

  • Passive: Sprinting while holding the item increases the player's speed and makes their stamina decrease more slowly. While this ability is active it will reduce the durability meter by 1.5 points per second (0.75%/s/0.5%/s).
  • Wind Leap: Pressing the jump button while sprinting makes the player perform a higher jump that negates fall damage.
  • Air Dash: Pressing the jump button while in the air from using Wind Leap makes the player dash forward before falling back to the ground, negating fall damage. Using this ability will reduce the durability meter by 2 points (1%/0.66%).

Once the Durability meter reaches 0%, the item will break and be removed from the player's inventory.

Strategy Guide

Strategy Guide[]

Calculated - Emote - Fortnite This section outlines a strategy.
Feel free to add tips, tricks and general advice about the topic.
  • The Typhoon Blade is an effective tool that is powerful as it is dangerous; although using the weapon alone often secures victory in a fight, it can quickly lead to your demise in the hands of an opponent. Take important note of its weaknesses and strengths to know how to avoid elimination, whether you or your adversary are wielding it.
  • During rotations, alternate between sprinting and sliding as much as possible while holding the Typhoon Blade to prolong the distance you can travel before your stamina runs out.
    • A tricky but useful technique you can use when your stamina bar is low is to make a Wind Leap, press the button to Air Dash, then immediately swap to your Pickaxe or any other item in your inventory. If done correctly, you will keep the Air Dash’s initial momentum boost rather than having it gradually decrease, and you won’t take fall damage.
  • Use the Typhoon Blade’s attacks sparingly. Unless you need to use it as a last resort, or if you have to reload your other weapons, it should serve solely for mobility, as using it for combat will quickly lower its durability. Never use it on NPC enemies or players that you can confirm are bots.
  • If you use a Wind Slash on an enemy at a location of high elevation, the attack’s knock-back will throw them off the edge, most likely eliminating them due to fall damage. Stay alert as you watch your target plummet, however, as they may avoid elimination with a Void Oni Mask or other various means.
    • If you accidentally sprint off a high ledge while holding the Typhoon Blade, using an Air Dash at any time during your fall will negate any fall damage. You can also use a Cyclone Slash if you weren’t sprinting, but this alternative only works if it is used when close to the ground.
  • A list of techniques to combat the Typhoon Blade are as follows:
    • An excellent way to combat an opponent attacking you with the Typhoon Blade is to sprint out of the weapon’s reach, wait for the default attack’s combo to end or briefly pause, and shoot them with a swift but accurate shot of your shotgun when the opportunity strikes.
    • In Zero Build, if you hear an opponent charging up a Cyclone Slash, quickly sprint behind them or to the side if they’re on the ground, or out from under them if they’re airborne. Should you succeed, immediately proceed to shoot them with an assault weapon from a distance, utilizing your foe’s vulnerability to land headshots for high damage, or hit them with your shotgun if they are within extremely close range. For modes with Building enabled, simply construct a wooden wall and a floor above you if needed to block the attack.
    • Use Shockwave Grenades if you don’t have enough stamina to sprint from a Typhoon Blade’s attacks, or if your HP is too low to withstand a few hits. They can transport you a lengthy distance, where you can get gather your bearings and reload your weapons if needed.
    • When you spot an opponent from a significant distance without them seeing you, and they are sprinting with a Typhoon Blade, try to aim and secure a good shot on them with a ranged weapon before actually shooting, such as an assault rifle. When you start damaging them, they will either sprint away or begin sprinting towards you; keep shooting if they decide to retreat. As for the latter, if you manage to wipe out their shield before they reach you, you can finish them off when they get close with a shotgun or fast-firing weapon.
