- — In-Game Description
Decoy is an Consumable Item in Fortnite: Battle Royale, that was added in Chapter 2: Season 2.
Functionality
Functionality[]
Decoys are used to duplicate the player character, to create a 'fake' version of them for opponents to mistake for an actual player. When thrown, a decoy will create a false player with the same cosmetic items as the player, as well as being equipped with the same weapons from the players inventory.
The decoy will move, fire their weapon and act almost like an AI hired character. When attacked, the decoy will have
50 Health and no shield. Decoys disappear upon taking enough damage or after 10 seconds. During this time, Decoys appear marked on the minimap as friendly players.
Strategy Guide
Strategy Guide[]
|
This section outlines a strategy. |
| Feel free to add tips, tricks and general advice about the topic. |
- Decoys are most useful for distracting your opponent while you wait for an opportunity to strike.
- Decoys will automatically seek out any nearby players, allowing you to find anyone hiding nearby.
- Decoys can be thrown onto a Launch Pad to trick your opponent into thinking you're using it.
- Decoys can be used very well in combination with a sniper rifle. Before your opponent finds you, you can throw a Decoy in an open area. Aim with the sniper rifle for easy elimination when your opponent peaks out to shoot the Decoy.
- This can also be done very effectively with an assault rifle or marksman rifle, although you may not get an elimination with these weapons.

Trivia
Trivia[]
- Decoys can be healed by environmental effects (Slurp Vats, Slurp Pipes, Slurp Trucks, etc.) as well as Bandage Bazookas.
- If the player is disguised and throws a decoy, the decoy will not be disguised. However, if they see the player disguised, they will shoot the player, thinking they are an actual henchman.
- Decoys will use the Take the L emote if you are eliminated whilst one is active.
- Decoys can deal damage with weapons that spawn a non-player tied effect, like Primal Stink Bow's stink cloud or Primal Flame Bow's fire.
- The same applies to weapons that have knockback on hit.
- In Fortnite: Creative, health of a Decoy will change depending on the island's max health setting.
- This is likely because the game takes the max health value and divides it by two to determine their health.
- Decoys are very similar to Friendly Bot Grenades in Battle Lab.
- The difference is that Friendly Bots will not despawn after 10 seconds, do not use the same cosmetics, can deal damage, and have more HP and Shields than Decoys.
- Back in Chapter 2: Season 3, players could glitch outside of their Creative islands with phone permissions and copy vending machines from other creative islands that contained Decoys. In Update v15.50, these vending machines were removed from players' islands.
