Overview
Bosses are the strongest class of enemies in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They possess high amounts of Health and can be challenged for unique rewards and strong weaponry. Bosses typically attack players on sight, though some of them will only become hostile when attacked.

Based on their behavior and drops, Bosses can be divided into certain groups:
Humanoid Bosses[]
Criteria[]
An AI may be considered a Boss if they satisfy the following criteria:
- When scanned, a crown will appear above them.
- In the case of Character Boss hybrids, the crown does not necessarily appear despite the character being classified in the game files as Boss.
- A health bar appears above them when attacked (from Chapter 2: Season 6 onwards).
Common Features[]
Many Humanoid Bosses share certain common features:
- Unique abilities.
- Unique Mythic weapons often named after them.
- Can switch between several weapons or items.
- Possesses a keycard, medallion, or kits.
- Guarded by Guards.
- Boss music will start playing when in close proximity. Sometimes in conjunction with their Guards' music.
- Have voice lines.
- Have increased height or size compared to their playable counterparts.
- Can range from Slightly Taller, Slightly Bigger, Much Larger, Gigantic, to Colossal.
- May be talkative characters (Character Boss hybrids).
- Health and Shield values may vary depending on the mode (from Chapter 5: Season 2 onwards).
Creature Bosses[]
Strong enemies that lack the common traits and behavior of humanoid bosses, being vaguely humanoid at best, but are, regardless, unique enemies with high-rarity drops.
Criteria[]
An AI may be considered a Monster Boss if they satisfy the following criteria while not being Humanoid Bosses:
- Has a minimum of 500 HP.
- A health bar appears above them when attacked.
- Appears with other non-humanoid or humanoid enemies or makes them appear if they are alone.
- When scanned, an inverted triangle (like guards and wildlife) appears.
Common Features[]
- Boss music will start playing when in close proximity and/or when in battle.
Player-Controlled Bosses[]
Bosses that are controlled by the player possess a set of unique abilities typically not available elsewhere. Players can morph into these bosses in either Battle Royale or an associated Limited Time Mode by completing a specific objective, such as entering a portal, retrieve an item, etc...
