Skills and Behavior[]
Most Guards will attack players on sight, but some will only become hostile after their boss is attacked by a player. Alternatively, blocking their path, aiming a weapon, or shooting a neutral guard will cause them to become hostile.
Guards typically have 100 Health and 50-150 Shield. During Chapter 2 and in Chapter 2 Remix, they were able to be shaken down to reveal nearby Guards with an arrow marker, Security Devices with an eye marker, Chests with a chest marker, and Bosses with a crown marker.
If DBNO is active for them, Guards and Bosses can revive each other, if belonging to the same faction. This process will take 10 seconds, just like a single player reviving another player. Revived Guards have 30 Health and no Shield.
During Chapter 2: Season 2, Chapter 2: Season 3, Chapter 2: Season 4, Chapter 2 Remix, and Galactic Battle, players were able to disguise themselves as a Guard by using a Phone Booth to avoid being detected. If a disguised player bumps into a Guard, dealt or received any damage, their disguise would dissipate. Being disguised allowed players to open Scan Doors and Faction Chests, and allowed them to pass Sentry Cameras and Turrets undetected. Carrying a Guard to a Scan Door or Faction Chest would also allow players to open them.
Before Chapter 2: Season 6, Guards, in extension Bosses, were originally capable of being staggered when hit with a large amount of damage in quick succession, i.e with a Sniper, Shotgun, or attacking them very fast. This would cause them to stop shooting briefly, before regaining balance and attacking again. This trait had no cooldown so players could use it repeatedly until the target was knocked.
