Overview

Disambig gray This article is about the guards from Chapter 5: Season 2. For the Item Shop Outfits, see Olympian and Underworld Commander.

Guards[]

Minions, also known as Mythical Legion were hostile Guards in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They were introduced during Chapter 5: Season 2.

Description

Description[]

Minions are a group of generic Guards for several factions including Olympus and The Underworld and The Society. They attack players on sight.

Minions can use different weapons but their loadouts will determine what voicelines they use and their appearance determines which location they spawn in.

  • Commanders
    • The Commanders are Mini-Bosses that spawn at Forecast Towers and Landmarks previously controlled by The Society. The Commanders that spawn in Landmarks have their voicelines randomized while the Forecast Tower Commanders use the Shotgun voicelines.

Minions and Commanders' Health and Shields depend on where they are found. Olympian and Underworld Minions summoned by Olympian Bosses and found in Landmarks along with Commanders will have no Shields while the Forecast Towers Minions and Commanders possess light and heavy Shields respectively.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • Both Minions and Commanders use the same base model as the Legion Tactical Guards and Legion Heavy Guards respectively. With Olympian votive helmets replacing the original masks worn.
    • They also use the exact same voice samples as the Society Guards. With a different voice filter applied and no communication through their Walkie Talkies.
      • These voicelines also overridden the Legion Guard voicelines when they were added.
  • The Epic TBD Outfits used for both Minions and Commanders that are only available on developer accounts show that they both have alternate styles.
    • The Minion's Default Style is used for the Olympian Minions while the Boom Style is used for the Underworld Minions.
    • The Commander's Default Style is used for all Commanders found around the Island while the Gust Style is unused.
    • The color schemes for all the styles bear some resemblance to Zeus, Ares, Hades, and Cerberus respectively. Suggesting they were all planned to have these different styles as unique Guards during development.
      • This is further strengthened by the Minion and Commander Icons present during their Boss Fights. As while Underworld Minions are summoned in Hades' fight, the icon used is the Commanders.
      • Despite this, The Olympian Minions are still shown in Ares' fight. As there is no icon for the Underworld Minions.
    • The Minion's Outfit ID is Character_ShadeAngel_NPC.
    • The Commander's Outfit ID is Character_ShadeNyx_NPC.
  • There is some confusion on the allegiance of the Commanders due to their appearance in the Poseidon and Immortal Artemis Loading Screens actively opposing the Gods with The Society, which contradicts them being present in The Rise of Midas and their icon being in Hades' Boss Fight. There could have been some miscommunication to the Loading Screen artists that occurred for the Commanders to be present rather than the Society Guards but nothing is confirmed.
  • Because the Forecast Tower Commanders are regarded as Bosses, they are also slightly taller. This is not the case for the Landmark Commanders who still have the same height as players and Guards.
    • They will also grant the Who's the Boss? Elimination Accolade when eliminated.
