The Spirit Realm wasn't dark, or evil... but there was a dark presence there.
Jade

The Spirit Realm is a location in Fortnite: Battle Royale and LEGO Fortnite. It is a dimension within Reality: 783 serving as its realm of the deads.[1] Only Demons[2] and Spirits such as Sprites[3][4] can pass through into the Spirit Realm, while other being that are not demonic/spiritual entities are typically unable to, unless exception. Under special conditions, entities such as the Dark Presence[5] and the The Swarm[6] are able get to Oninoshima from the Spirit Realm without the need of a Spirit Realm portal.

Overview

Overview[]

Spirit Realm[]

Spirit Realm is the current home of the banished demons of Oninoshima as well as Sprites and many type of spirits such as gashadokuro [7]. However, the realm is not described as dark in itself, whether by Jade or the Demons, but a darkness could be found inside.

Spirit Realm Portals[]

The realm is only accessible through the Dragon Portals found across Oninoshima.

The Swarm's Access Point[]

The Swarm can get to Oninoshima from the Spirit Realm without the need of a Dragon Portal, but with the use of an Access Point that's linked between Oninoshima and the Spirit Realm. The location of the Access Point is currently unknown, but the eggs laid by the Queens could hold the key to locating the Access Point according to Hope. The Swarm is also currently building their nests close to their Access Point.

History

History[]

The Shattering War[]

An event known as the Shattering War begun between the Demon Warriors - who appeared in Oninoshima following the creation of Masks of Power by a family of mask artisans - and the residents of Oninoshima, including the Fox Clan and River Guard.

The conflict ended in Nightshift Forest, within a location that would later be known as Battle's End - resulting in the demons being defeated, and banished to the Spirit Realm. Masks were destroyed, and magic was banished. The Fox Clan was blamed as the Masks of Power had been created by their suppliers.

Chapter 6: Season 1[]

A shard of The Zero Point went through a Rift along with Hope, Jones and The Looper - landing near Nightshift Forest, and reawakening magic all across Oninoshima, including various inactive portals that led to the Spirit Realm. As a result, demons once again began invading the island.

By this time, the family of mask makers had three living descendants: Kendo, who was cautious of the Spirit Realm, Daigo, who wishes to see it for himself, and Jade, a reckless but intelligent woman who harbors curiosity towards the realm.

Daigo later gifts Jade a mask that he'd created in an attempt to keep her safe from the demons after she'd been cursed, but it draws her into the Spirit Realm and traps here there - leaving Daigo hoping it can still keep her safe, and Kendo confused as to how, even with the mask, she entered the Spirit Realm, as only demons can enter.

Chapter 6: Season 2[]

Most Spirit Realm portals were destroyed, except Shogun's Arena and Magic Mosses'. During Daigo's Fate Event, Daigo managed to open and break through Magic Mosses' portal, entering the Spirit Realm, however, he was corrupted.

Chapter 6: Mini Season 1[]

As the Galactic Empire and The Resistance clashed, the debris from Predator Peak's Portal gathered and began to reform the portal, opening from the Spirit Realm itself.

During Death Star Sabotage, after the Death Star exploded, one of its fragments collided with the portal, generating an outburst of energy and freeing the Demons, now led by Mask Maker Daigo.

Chapter 6: Season 3[]

In order to accomplish his plan, Mask Maker Daigo excavated strange old Spires apparently linked to his master. These Spires, being sentient demons, started to absorb Oninoshima's energy and to anchor the Spirit Realm to the Island itself, causing troops from the Realm to emerge.

At the same time, he performed a ritual in his citadel while continuing his invasion. This ritual was to open a gigantic portal that would allow his master to invade Oninoshima.

However, although the ritual was successful, the Dark Presence was unable to fully exit and was forcibly returned to the Spirit Realm by The Supernovas, and the portal was closed. This lead to Daigo's liberation from his mind control.

Chapter 6: Season 4[]

Daigo, Jade and The Night Rose noticed that the recent conflicts with the Spirit Realm forces weakened the veil that separates Oninoshima from the Spirit Realm, and the cracks are growing days after days. It eventually led to a massive fissure to appear in the veil, which the Dark Presence took advantage of to invade Oninoshima.

Chapter 6: Mini Season 2[]

The Dark Presence, with his legions of onimorphs and other demons, lay siege to Oninoshima as his influence corrupted the Island to resemble more like the landscapes of the Spirit Realm.

Jones and Hope summoned numerous warriors from other realities to fight the Dark Presence, which also included Daigo and a red Corruption Cube. The Cube defeated the Dark Presence, liberating the Zero Point Shard that had been embedded in his chest.

The Spirit Realm was shut off from Oninoshima when a reality wave from the Zero Point Shard formed a new veil that also purified Oninoshima of demonic magic.
