Canting allowed the player to enable/disable the scope, removing full ADS accuracy and moving them back to the 3rd person camera. Additionally, Canting a weapon with a Sniper Scope would disable its Sniper Glare. All weapons that use Chapter 5 Optics supported Canting up until its removal.

Canting was available in all third-person shooter modes, such as Battle Royale, Reload, Blitz Royale and Creative/UEFN islands. It was not available in Ballistic or when the First Person Camera was active, but scoped Ballistic weapons could still use Canting in third-person Creative/UEFN.

Canting was useful for close range fights, as scopes can sometimes get in the way when up close, and some people have their scope sensitivity different to that of their ADS sensitivity. It was also useful for more casual players that find aligning their crosshair on their opponent difficult and rely on bloom to hit players. It also appealed to players who simply preferred not to use scopes.

Equipping the Angled Foregrip reduced the time it took toggle Canting.
In real life, canting occurs when a mounted gun isn't held vertically in the shoulder, causing the barrel stack to tilt either left or right.
