Overview
Islands (also informally known as Maps) are a fundamental feature in Fortnite: Battle Royale, Party Royale, Fortnite: Reload, and Blitz Royale, serving as the primary battlegrounds for players.
The active Battle Royale Island is updated with each new Season and fully replaced at the start of every Chapter with an entirely new island. Once an island is replaced, it does not return to the main Battle Royale mode, unless a special season revisits a previous Chapter or specific seasons from that Chapter, such as Chapter 4: Season OG bringing back Athena, or Chapter 2 Remix reintroducing Apollo.
In Fortnite: Reload, Islands will rotate every 20 minutes between several available maps
All islands have code names. For Battle Royale islands, they have names based on Greek mythology.

Named Locations[]
Named Locations are the largest types of locations, and usually considered the best due to their plentiful loot. As stated in their name, these locations have names - that are often alliterative (two words in which the starting letter in each word is the same, such as Retail Row) - which are also seen labelled on the map. They are quite large in size - often resembling towns and cities, and because of this, many Chests can be found in these locations to give good loot.
Landmarks[]
Landmarks are named locations that aren't labelled on the map. Their names are only seen on the screen when entering the area. Landmarks are very inconsistent, ranging from a tiny, unimportant place to the scale of a Named Location. Like named locations, most Landmarks have alliterative names. They are the most common type of location.
Unnamed Locations[]
Unnamed Locations are locations, similar to Landmarks but without official names. Due to this, the community often grant these locations names - like Yonder Yard and Factories. In addition, their name could have been as simple as Volcano.
