Expedition

Overview[]

Expedition is a paramilitary and research group from Reality: 659. They were first seen when they joined the Athena Island alongside the Iceberg of Polar Peak which they had settled on after it dislodged from The Ice Moon and crashed into the sea of The Island and eventually, The Unknown. In addition to their paramilitary and research activities, they also take care of the various festive roles of Christmas.

History[]

Before Chapter 1[]

After a piece of The Ice Moon broke off and landed in the island's ocean, part of Expedition, led by Sgt. Winter moved in and established Frosty Flights as their new base of operations.

Season 6[]

Probably alerted by the gigantic explosion that happened on the Island, An A.I.M. robot was sent on a recon mission, using an X-4 Stormwing to land on the Island before spying on its inhabitants, sending its data to Expedition. Soon after, Expedition moved the Iceberg and made it dock with the island.

Season 7[]

Expedition has made several expedition outposts. Sgt. Winter uses the A.I.M. robots to help him deliver presents on Christmas and invade the island. Lynx creates designs of many Loopers, one of which being a design of Meowscles who would be seen later, though it is not clear if Meowscles is also a member of Expedition.

Season 8[]

Expedition begins studying the Hot Springs and build outposts in the Jungle.

Season 9[]

Unbeknownst to Team Expedition, the legendary creature and Man of Mystery, Bigfoot, steals one of their campsite's tents.

Chapter 2: Season 5[]

During Operation: Snowdown, Snowmando arrives on the map and takes over south east of the island. Meanwhile, Snowmando tests The Looper on their skills of being a "Winter Warrior", and was rather impressed at their skills.^[7] All of the Snowmando Outposts got removed shortly after, except Outpost Delta Kringle.

Chapter 2: Season 6[]

Outside of Expedition orders, Zenith hangs around the mountains of Apollo and the Weather Station. He admits to The Looper that he likes meteorology^[8] and bonds over the love of peace and quiet.^[9] He also meets up with his old pal, Trog, hoping to play poker again sometime.^[10]

Chapter 3: Season 1[]

Sgt. Winter and his Helpers arrive on Artemis to deliver presents.

Chapter 4: Season 1[]

Because of the Zero Fusion, an Expedition Laboratory from Reality: 659 was brought back to the new island: Asteria. During Winterfest 2022, Sgt. Winter traveled Asteria to deliver presents. During Oathbound Quests, AMIE took over one of the Lonely Labs' A.I.M.s in order to make it a temporary body for herself to save The Scientist from "a fate darker than the worst imaginable."

OG Chapter 1: Season 7[]

Arriving in Reality: Unknown, Lt. Winter, now promoted after all this time as a Sergeant, set up new Expedition bases on this chunk of The Ice Moon - the same way they once did in Reality Zero. Lt. Winter would hop between here and Reality: 266, but chose to back away from most Winterfest responsibilities for 2025.^[11]

An alternate variant of Lynx, known as the Void Walker, explores the Unknown and practices her battle tactics, dexterity and prowess. However, unlike her counterpart, she doesn't work for Expedition, but with The Last Reality as one of the minions of the Dark Voyager.

Power Hour[]

In Reality: 266, as the exception to his earlier claim, Lt. Winter announces his Power Hour event - a festive time of day during December 20th where for one hour, there would be a festive, Christmas Tree-shaped Storm, alongside a stockpile of Presents, chaotic Rift Anomalies, and of course, Supercharged XP.^[12]

Trivia[]

• This faction can be seen as the Fortnite version of Santa Claus, with Sgt. Winter being the equivalent of Santa Claus, and his Henchmen as the equivalent of Elves.
• Given their use of air transportation, X-4 Stormwings could be the equivalent of Santa's Sleigh.
  • The Holiday Big Rig would eventually replace them as the role of Santa's Sleigh.
• Expedition was referred to as the Arctic Forces by the community for a while.
• Throughout Winterfest 2019, three X-4 Stormwing Planes were stationed at each outpost. However, for Operation: Snowdown, they wore a new festive design.
• During the Season 7 Trailer, Sgt. Winter wielded the Infinity Blade of The Ice King.^[13]
  • However, alongside no allegiance, it was still frozen, making it noncanonical.
• Despite many logos of The Government inside of Frosty Flights, no canonical link between the two factions was officially etablished.
  • The initial presence of Government logo is probably due to reused assets, as E.G.O. outposts also suffered the same problems.
