Fortnite: Save The World is the primary PvE gamemode in Fortnite. Because of this, players will need a strategy to be able to survive against Monsters. Below is a list of tips for Fortnite: Save The World that many players may not know.
General
Settings
Settings[]
There are different Controls depending on what platform you are playing on. A good idea if you are starting to play Save the World on a new platform is to go into a game of Fortnite: Creative or Battle Lab and get used to the controls.
You can also select between different Game Settings to alter the way you play Save the World (please note that this also applies for Battle Royale and Creative). If you are playing Fortnite on a Windows PC , you can choose keybinds, which select the functions of different keys on the keyboard.
If you have a low-end computer you may want to consider turning on performance mode to boost performance or turning down your graphics a small bit. If performance is still poor, consider using cloud services to play the game. (GeForce Now or Xbox Game Pass).
8th generation consoles (Xbox One/PlayStation 4) are locked to 60 FPS, but the 9th generation consoles (Series X/PS5) can set the frame rate to 120 FPS. If your TV/Monitor can support 120hz refresh, set it to 120 FPS.

Player Movement
Player Movement[]
There are many types of movement in Save the WOrld. Here is a list of them:
- Walk - Allows the player to move.
- Sprinting - Players move faster while sprinting but also lose energy. Once it runs out they can't sprint until it recharges.
- Jump - Allows the player to reach heights above them without using stairs. Players can use items while jumping. Ninja heroes can double jump.
- Falling - This occurs when you get pulled down by gravity. You can sometimes control your direction while falling. If you fall of a very high height then you will take damage.
- Mantling - Allows the player to grab onto edges and climb up even higher than jumping allows them to.
- Crouching - Allows the player to become smaller and climb through vents and gaps. Players can use items while crouching.
- Sliding - Allows the player to move down slopes faster. Players can use items while sliding.
- Shoulder Bashing - Allows the player to barge open doors whole sprinting or sliding.
Movement speed can be reduced if a player stands on shallow water or get hit by a Water element Husk. In a Slowing Attacks modifier missions, players can be slowed by taking damage from any monster.
Classes
Classes[]
There are four Hero classes in Save the World:
Soldier - This class is suited for combat using Ranged Weapons and its ablilites also assist them in elimiating Husks.
Ninja - This class offers great mobility as they can double jump. For weapons, it is best to use Melee weapons to get the most of their abilites. However, Ranged Weapons are also viable.
Constructor - This class is best suited for defense missions as they can strengthen a fort with therir B.A.S.E. ability. Their best weapon to use is Hardware weapons to take advantage of their Kinetic Overload perk. Constructor have the highest base HP of all classes, allowing them to take more hits from Monsters before being knocked.
Outlander - This class is more suited for looting as Outlanders does not have many skills for combat and have the lowest base HP. However, abilities like TEDDY can assist Outlanders in fighting Husks.
Looting
Damage
Damage[]
- Damage can be taken very easily in Save the World, and it is best for players to know how to avoid taking damage. Below is a list of every way players can take damage, and how to avoid it.
- Monsters - Husk and Mist Monsters do have the ability to damage you in Save the World. Most Monsters attack at close range but Lobbers, Zappers, and Blasters can deal damage from range.
- Wildlife - Raptors, Wolves, Boars, and even Chickens can become hostile if they see you. Since Wildlife chase after you, it is best to elimiate them.
- Fall Damage - Fall Damage can be taken from jumping off of an excessively high point of terrain. To avoid this, a Ninja can jump mid air.
- The Storm - In some missions there is The Storm which can constantly damage players by being in it.
- Alpha Rifts - Starting in Plankerton, these are static rifts on the map that can damage players and drain their energy if they stand too close.
Enemies
Enemies[]
Monsters[]
Monsters are the main enemy in Save the World. This group include Husk Monsters and Mist Monsters. Husk Monsters are the most common. Monsters can be found around the map or spawned from Husk Encampments. They always appear when defending the objective, having a Monster touch the objective will cause the objective to take damage.
- Husk Monsters
- Mist Monsters
Wildlife[]
In addition to Monsters, there are Wildlife that can be encountered around the map. Below are the wildlife that can attack players. Wildlife can be tamed to help the player.
- Boar
- Raptor
- Chicken
- Wolf
Frogs do not damage players.
Healing
Healing[]
Healing is a mechanic in Save the World that allows players to regain health and shield after it has been taken away from them. In order to do this, players will have to consume an item that will heal either their health, or their shield. Below is a list of every item that functions this way:
- Meat
- Mushrooms
- Corn
- Cozy Campfire
- Healing Pad
- Adrenaline Rush
Perks:
- Survialist - Eliminations heal you for 39 base Health over 3 seconds. Duration refreshes with additional eliminations.
- Burger Buff - Eliminations have a 8% chance to drop a Burger. Burgers grant 53 base health and 5 energy every 1 second for 3 seconds.
- Saurian Grit - Kinetic Overload heals for 2.125% of your max health.
- Saurian Instinct - Abilities heal for 7.2% of max health when used.
- Saurian Vigor Heal 2.125% of your max Health every 5 seconds.
Strategies[]
Defense
Defense[]
- During Defense, it is important to exploit the spawn paths of Husks. As such, clearing off objects and placing traps will be effective, along with blocking off the objective.
- Block off shortcuts that can serve as a weak point for your fort, such as a tunnel in Canny Valley Storm Shield Defenses that allows Husks to attack an Amplifier from above. To avoid this, make shortcuts deadlier and block them off.
- Certain Traps can delay husks from doing damage to your fort. Due to this, you can place them down, along with damaging traps that will keep them at bay. Here is a list of them:
| Trap Name | Image | Placement |
|---|---|---|
| Sound Wall | ![]() |

| Wall Lights | ![]() |

| Floor Freeze Trap | ![]() |

- If the mission has a certain element (eg: Fire, Water, Nature, etc.), then a certain material will be the most effective. The Following list shows which materials should be used in which storm:
Schematics
Schematics[]
- Having a perk for Critical Damage and Critical Rating are crucial since Monsters can be eliminated faster and with more firepower at hand.
- Reload Time Perks should be maxed out for weapons with long reload times due to how slow they might be.
- Weapons should be perked to have an element, with Energy being the most recommended due to its effectiveness against all types of elemental enemies.
- Smashers should be dealt with Shotguns, due to how powerful they can be close-range.
- Upgrade your schematic to the highest rarity and level possible, to give it a boost. The highest power level is 144, this is achived if the schematic is Legendary rarity, Level 50, and is given 5 Superchargers.
Heroes
Heroes[]
- A Hero Loadout should have a main focus, for example, having a Kunai Storm Hero Build to increase the power of the ability, or a Melee-focused melee build.
- Commander Perks can greatly increase the power of a hero's perk.
- Adding a Team Perk which fits your build can be powerful.
