Why are there shops labelled as 'parts'?
For varying reasons, Epic Games may decide to add or remove items from the Item Shop before the usual rotation occurs. The Fortnite Wiki treats each change to the Item Shop within a single day as a separate 'part' that makes up the day's Item Shop History.
Why are there two different numbers for The Devourer's appearances?
The Devourer has, on at least one occasion, appeared in more than one shop in a single day. This has resulted in its count for appearances in the Item Shop being higher than the amount of days it has appeared in it. Both counts are listed by the Fortnite Wiki in order to be as accurate as possible, unlike other sources.

Starving... the energy source... found. I will consume and destroy. I am the Devourer.
— The Devourer[1]

The Devourer is an endangered species of gigantic Kaijus deemed by The Ice King to be too dangerous for The Omniverse. Most of the Devourers can be found frozen in ice on the The Ice Moon. One of it was eventually eliminated by the Mecha Team Leader in The Final Showdown event, another one was summoned during Zero Hour.

It was the main antagonist of Season 9.

Overview

Overview[]

The Devourer are intelligent kaijus that The Ice King and his comrades once fought and imprisoned, as with other artifacts and beings he was deemed too dangerous for the Omniverse. Its sole purpose was to devour and destroy. It was trapped under Polar Peak until it was freed by The Prisoner during The Unvaulting Event and later was killed by a Zero Point empowered Mecha Team Leader during The Final Showdown event.

Personality

Personality[]

The Devourer of Polar Peak was a self-aware creature endowed with enough intelligence to know the name that has been given to it and claims it as its own. The creature is endowed with a fairly precise goal of devouring and destroying everything. It does it out of desire and not instinct.

The Devourer acts like any intelligent predator, studying its target before attacking. And making small attacks to see how the Island's inhabitants would react. However, despite its intelligence, the Devourer is impulsive and gets angry easily.

Appearance

Appearance[]

The Devourer appears as a grotesque and intimidating creature. It has a heavily muscular build, walking on all fours with massive, clawed limbs and has several large tendrils on its back. Its skin appears to be made of flesh and scales. The Devourer's head is crowned with a single green eye in the center of its forehead and has a wide mouth filled with sharp teeth. When about to fire a laser beam, The Devourer's body and eye emit an ominous green light.

Powers and Abilites

Powers and Abilites[]

The Devourer are an immensely powerful Kaiju capable of challenging The Ice King and his powerful knights. Despite being in a weakened state after being imprisoned in ice for countless ages and suffering from starvation, it still managed to overpower the Mecha Team Leader, which was piloted by the most skilled mech pilot of all Reality.

The Devourer displayed remarkable resilience. While a single missile from the Mecha Team Leader completely obliterated the Polar Peak castle on its back, The Devourer emerged unscathed from two entire salvo of missiles, though the force of the explosions pushed it back. Its full strength, in an unweakened state, remains unknown. However, it was deemed so powerful that it posed a significant threat to its own Reality, the Omniverse, and The Zero Point itself.

If the Paradigm had not agreed to pilot the Mecha Team Leader, the Imagined Order deemed that they wouldn't have been able to defeat it without one of their Doomsday Weapons, weapons designed to annihilate entire realities.

Timeline

Timeline[]

Pre-Chapter 1[]

In The Ice King's mission to capture objects and entities too dangerous to be left alive, The Devourer was trapped under Polar Peak.

Season 9[]

After the Volcano hit Polar Peak in The Unvaulting Event, the eye of The Devourer was seen in the ice. It managed to break out and walked into the Ocean, leaving giant footsteps after him. The Imagined Order takes notice of this, but were happy with letting the monster destroy everything on the Island and restart The Loop, although they were worried that he would harm The Zero Point and ended being right as it was its target. The Paradigm volunteers to pilot a Mecha to take down The Devourer in order to avoid that the use of a Doomsday Weapon to annihilate the Devourer, along with The Island and its inhabitants by the Imagined Order.

The Final Showdown[]

The Devourer emerged outside Athena, appearing between The Block and Lazy Lagoon with The Ice King's castle perched atop him. Upon arrival on the Island, The Devourer fired a laser beam around the area, though it caused no immediate damage. It then attempted to open the Vault to retrieve the power orb contained within and devour it. Meanwhile, Mecha began its activation and emerged from Pressure Plant to confront The Devourer.

The battle started with Mecha launching rockets at The Devourer, completely destroying The Ice King's castle in the process. In retaliation, The Devourer fired its laser beam, knocking Mecha off its feet and damaging it. However, Mecha quickly recovered, charged at The Devourer, and tackled it into the river west of the battlefield. For a moment, Mecha appeared victorious, but The Devourer re-emerged, ambushing Mecha and biting through its rocket fuel and left arm, it seriously damaged the robot. Despite the setback, Mecha fought back, losing an arm in the process and made its way to the Vault. While it was going to be out of Power, the Mecha pierced though the Vault and retrieved the power orb, energizing itself with its infinite power.

Using the orb's energy, Mecha delivered a powerful punch, knocking The Devourer to the ground. Mecha then grabbed the statue from Neo Tilted, which was revealed to be a hidden sword. Injecting the orb's energy into the sword before both opponents jumped at each other in a dramatic slow-motion scene, Mecha stabbed The Devourer through its single eye, ultimately defeating the beast. With the battle over, Mecha performed the No Sweat Emote—a version of the Floss with only one arm—saluted the Island, and then flew off to The Ice Moon.

Chapter 3: Season 1[]

The Government dug up the remains of the Devourer, revealing his bones on Artemis.

Chapter 6: Mini Season 2[]

Zero Hour[]

An alternate timeline version of the Devourer taken from before the final showdown happened was summoned to assist in fighting the Dark Presence. Surprisingly, and unlike the original counterpart who appeared in Reality Zero, he fought alongside the other Kaiju and the army instead of acting out against everyone present on Oninoshima as an indomitable and violent force. Whether it was pure instinct against what he deemed a threat or a genuine desire to help is unknown.

Chapter 7: Season 2[]

A skeleton of a small devourer can be found frozen in Frigid Fortress.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • There is an inconsistency with how The Devourer is drawn in the Zero War comics, where in Issue 4, he is drawn as a green Tyrannosaurus Rex.[2]
  • According to The Ice King, The Devourer is a far worse threat than The Prisoner.
  • If The Paradigm refused to pilot the Mecha Team Leader, the Imagined Order would have used a Doomsday Weapon to annihilate the creature, but that would have also annihilated everyone living on The Island.
  • The Devourer's codename was Cattus, which many assume to be its actual name.
  • Although The Devourer could not speak, it was proven intelligent when Donald Mustard gave a quote of The Devourer speaking about The Zero Point and its goal to consume and destroy.
