Lore Inconsistencies in Fortnite: Battle Royale

Overview

The Lore of Fortnite: Battle Royale is expansive and vast, and in the process of expanding it, errors are made with the continuity, and established rules in the fictional universe. This page details the known errors within the timeline, and inconsistencies between them.

Continuity

Continuity[]

Island Size[]

The Island present in Reality Zero changes at various times. Early on during Collision, and the Trailer for Chapter 3: Season 1, the island is shown to be almost the size of Reality Zero, but later during Collision, the Island is now roughly half the size of Reality Zero.

The Devourer's Species[]

In Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War Issue 4, The Devourer was depicted as a green Tyrannosaurus Rex by José Luis. It was drawn correctly by Sergio Dávila in Issue 1. The reason for this is the lack of time to revise as Issue 4 came only 2 weeks after Issue 3.

Mecha Strike Commander's Design[]

In the same comic issue, the Mecha Team Leader was rebuilt by The Foundation, The Scientist, Tony Stark and The Paradigm on The Ice Moon right where they found it. Though in Chapter 3: Season 2 and Collision, the Mecha was prepared on a Seven base and repainted blue to become the Mecha Strike Commander. In Issue 5, the Mecha is still not repainted, and even fights in the Collision event whilst in its original colors.

The Imagined and Agent Jones in Resistance Quests[]

While The Imagined and Agent Jones constantly work with The Looper in the Resistance Quests, implied to be on the island, as seen in Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War; they were in Reality: 616 looking for The Zero Shard throughout the whole, if not most of the season

The Imagined[]

Past Recollection[]

The Resistance Quests, The Imagined's Character Collection Book description and her dialogue show that she lacks any recollection about her past, although as seen in Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War, she remembers her whole past with Geno. While some may think that she was lying to The Looper all along, other characters, even her sister and father acknowledge this.

Post Collision[]

Althought she is ultimately killed off in Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War Issue 5; Imagined appears in the Chapter 3: Season 3 trailer, as a Character throughout the season until "disappearing" with The Foundation and The Order.

Collision Event[]

During Zero War, The Collision Event is told almost entirely differently. Not only is the mecha the wrong color scheme, but it is only piloted by The Paradigm, with no Loopers present. The fight is also aided greatly by Marvel heroes, unlike the event in game, and Slone is eventually defeated on the surface of the island, rather than inside it. Slone is also defeated by being crushed on the floor, rather than falling down further into the island. There is no mention of the mecha needing to be healed with Peely's aid either. New dialogues were added, with the rest of the dialogue spoken in the event being heavily altered.

Inconsistency

Inconsistency[]

IO Controls Everything[]

The Impostors map gave full access to The Bridge, showing IO control everything that goes on in the loop, from Battle Bus repair, to Item delivery. Despite this, the Bridge is destroyed during The End, and seasons continue to have routine Battle Bus deployment and Item Delivery. It is not known how this is possible given the established rules.

Lack of a Loop[]

The Loop does not seem to be present during any Live Event, as the 22 minute cycle is not imposed, nor does The Storm close in. The only Live Events where this is not true, are The Devourer of Worlds, and The Device, as both of them involved Loop manipulation.

The Lack of a Battle Bus[]

During the Batman Fortnite: Zero Point series, Batman is shown waking up on the Island, and not dropping from the Battle Bus. Deployment from the Battle Bus is shown to be canonical from the Zero Crisis Finale opening scene.
