Cosmic Chest

Functionality[]

Cosmic Chests are unique in that they are not opened in the standard method of interacting or destroying the container, rather they have a unique quest associated with them, and can only be opened with the entirety of the player squad present.

Cosmic Chests contain two to three times the loot of a standard Chest, depending on the game mode. This means, 2 or 3 Weapons, Ammunition for said weapons, a small amount of all three types of material, and several Utility, Uncategorized or Ranged Consumables or Healing Items, and Bars.

Cosmic Chests will spawn at random intervals during a match, at less than 200 meters from one squad member. Only the player squad can see the chest. The chest is marked for all players in the squad and must be opened within 4 minutes or it will disappear.

Once the entire squad approaches the chest, they will have to take turns attacking the chest with their Harvesting Tool. Once completed, the Chest will repel players briefly, and open.

Cosmic Chests will also directly deposit Bars, XP or Ammo into the player's inventory. In previous seasons, they would provide players with Alien Artifacts, with 15 of them being provided per week. Later seasons provided Rainbow Ink.

Loot Table[]

Cosmic Chests will several items, those being Weapons, Materials, Ammo and extra items. Cosmic Chests will only drop Weapons of Rare to Legendary rarity, and will not drop Uncommon or Common weapons.

Cosmic Chests will drop 2 to 3 of the following weapons, accurate as of Chapter 2: Season 8:

Chapter 2: Season 7[]

• Update v17.00: Introduced Cosmic Chests in Duos, Trios and Squads.
  • Only 15 Alien Artifacts can be obtained from Cosmic Chest per week. They can be collected again every Tuesday 4:00PM EST.

Chapter 2: Season 8[]

• Update v18.00: Cosmic Chests spawn far less frequently, and now later into the game.
  • They can also give the player Rainbow Ink when opened.

Chapter 3: Season 1[]

• Update v19.00: Removed Cosmic Chests.

Trivia[]

• The Music that plays when near a chest, as well as opening it is reminiscent of the OG (Classic) music pack.
• Cosmic Chests appear to contain a brown-colored Rare Chest inside them.
• Cosmic Chests are marked a unique purple color, not associated with any rarity.
  • This rarity is shared with the Reality Sapling.
