Nitro is a Gameplay Mechanic in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was introduced in Chapter 5: Season 3. It temporarily grants players and vehicles a speed boost when applied.

Functionality

Functionality[]

Nitro can be applied to players and vehicles by consuming or throwing a Nitro Splash, destroying a Nitro Barrel, passing through a Flaming Boost Hoop in Chapter 5: Season 3, or holding Megalo Don's Medallion, which grants an infinite Nitro effect.

On Players[]

  • Increased movement speed
  • Explosive bashing power that deals damage and knockback, and can bust through structures whilst the user is sprinting or sliding
  • Infinite stamina
  • Fall damage immunity
  • Sprint on water
  • A red circle appears around the affected player's icon in the squadmate list
  • Increased reload speed
  • Increased air control

On Vehicles[]

  • Increased driving speed
  • Explosive ramming power that deals damage and knockback (must be driving at a sufficient speed)
  • Decreased fuel consumption
  • Increased fire rate to attached vehicle mods

  • Introduced.
  • May 30th 2024: Decreased Nitro Bash damage against players from 75 to 25.
  • June 7th 2024: Increased Nitro passive stamina renegeration from 10%/s to 100%/s, now granting infinite stamina for the duration of the effect.

Update v30.20

  • Decreased Nitro Bash structure damage from 300 to 90 only in Battle Royale playlists.

Chapter 5: Season 4

  • Vaulted in Battle Royale.
    • All previous balancing changes except for energy regeneration have been reverted (issue).

Nitro is a nickname given to the evil orange substance originating from the Pandora's Box by The Machinist. It was widely used by Megalo Don and the Wasteland Warriors to fuel and boost themselves, their weapons and vehicles.

Raw Nitro is a lava, fiery-like substance. When heated to a certain point, it will explode and turn into orange sands. Upon consuming, it will turn into flame. Nitro turned Megalo Don's hair into a super flaming spikey hair.

    • Fast Juice and Speed Goo were considered names for Nitro.
    • Refined Nitro is a combination of hydrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and mercury.
    • The process of powering up from Nitro is similar to nuclear fusion.
  • Doctor Doom boss reused alot of Nitro sound effects.
