The Backpack is a Gameplay Mechanic in Fortnite: Save the World used to hold items such as crafted Schematics and World Resources. It can be accessed while in a Mission, and in the Armory.

Backpack Space

Backpack Space[]

Players start with 50 Backpack slots, and earn 20 more for each upgrade in their Commander Levels (formerly "Backpack Size" Upgrades).

The maximum Backpack space is 210 items with standard play. However, it can be increased by the following:

  • 10 for enabling 2-factor authentication.
  • 10 slots for having purchased the Limited Edition Founder's Pack.
  • 10 for having purchased the Ultimate Edition Founder's Pack.
  • 10 for having participated in Fortnite's Pre-Launch.

In total, players can have 250 Backpack slots.

Limited & Ultimate Editions[]

The extra Backpack slots offered in the Limited and Ultimate Editions of Save the World were available in the early access period. Epic Games has since ended these editions, and it is no longer possible to purchase them for the additional slots.
