Lok

Overview[]

Lok is a Vindertech Seismological Welding Unit who is also a "learning AI" which makes him curious and childlike. He initially speaks in robotic beeps like Pop and Kevin, but Ray buys him a voice pack to allow verbal speech as a gift for helping with work.

History[]

Blockbuster 2018[]

The sudden crashing of the meteorite on the Earth brought in an investigation by Spitfire to analyze the meteor shards, in which Lok joins as well while demonstrating his new "Silver-Screen Announcer" speech voice. Showcasing his young and curious behavior while accompanying Spitfire in collecting the meteor shards and analyzing the crater, with blockbuster movie-esque quotes thrown in to cope through Ray's absence and anxiety of having to work alone.

Seeing the threat the meteorite could bring, Lok begins searching for "Superheroes" to help combat the unknown force potentially at play while disregarding Homebase's already capable Heroes. After receiving negative complaints from said Homebase Heroes and no Superheroes answering his call, Lok turns to taking action into his own hands by gathering bees from Beehive husks to "Make a superhero" while intentionally causing a radiation leak in Homebase's reactor to make radioactive bees. The experiment ended up yielding no results while getting Lok sent into timeout and Spitfire was later unintentionally poisoned in the process.

Canny Valley[]

Tales of Beyond 2019[]

For a majority of the Tales of Beyond story, Lok begins each quest with a narration of the upcoming setting and plot. Along with advertising Wargames due to being newly added at the time.

After an unfortunate string of event, Lok launched himself out of Homebase via the trebuchet from Love Storm 2018 while distressed, ending up in a puddle and unresponsive from possibly short-circuiting. A search party eventually finds his body and rushed him to Blackwell Memorial Hospital, which the robot doctors can't help due to being robot doctors for humans, fortunately he is still alive but now severely traumatized by something he encountered.

Having re-awakened Lok is incapable of properly describing what he witnessed, but the most notable aspects of the monster were that it was purple and made a sound akin to "VROOO...". Many of his phrasings of the monster catches Ray's attention due the abundant use of water-based suffering analogies, later discovered to be caused from the amount of water that's trapped inside his hardware following his disappearance. Dennis comes in to help reduce the amount of liquid trapped inside Lok, requesting oven parts and employing different rice types and alternatives until quinoa was the successful choice, requiring Lok to stay baking inside the oven's low temperatures for a couple of days to allow the quinoa to be effective and soak the water.

Being left to rest and bake in the oven Lok is accompanied by a friend to watch over him each shift to not keep him alone, with it themed as a "Dinosaur themed slumber party" to lighten up the mood. Conversing with Major Oswald about his past in storytale form and then hunting for the monster's potential hiding space, receiving a toy dinosaur from Dennis to help with his nightmares, which turned out to be sentient and later sought out dark power upon learning of the extinction of dinosaurs, playing videogames with Luna to distract from the inevitability of death, and Jess who was very uninterested with the task at first and opted to simply leave Lok to watch TV thinking he was less important than saving survivors, eventually coming around upon being talked back to it by Ray but saved the trouble by Lok by letting her go early while lying to Ray about her company and apologizing to him, but while Jess and Lok reconcile she catches a glimpse of the monster haunting Lok through one of the TVs.

The surprise sighting motivated Jess to gather the others and research the monster to prepare for confronting it, during which they discovered a gigantic purple Cube that briefly mind controlled the cast before vanishing. After the encounter Lok finishes baking and is allowed out of the oven, resting on a cutting board to cool while also printing out an after action report of all the things he saw leading up to his trebuchet launch.

The Door To Darkness 2019[]

Lok tags alongside Director Riggs, Penny and Dennis to the Oakdirge Hollows Hotel to complete the first Dark Ritual set by The Cube. During which he encounters the ghost Willow who only he can see while being invisible to everyone else outside of supernatural means, he tries to communicate her thoughts to the others but is brushed off as being an "Imaginary friend" while Dennis attempts to make contact with the spirits haunting the hotel up until he and the others gain the ability to see her as well. Throughout their stay they helped rid the hotel of its evil presence and freeing Willow of her eternal duty, after which assuring Lok she'll be there as a proper friend at Homebase when a haunting occurs.

Afterword[]

Ray later builds Lok a full body to help assist in battle nicknamed Lok-Bot, making him the second member to join the fight.

• Lok has shown interest in watercolor pedestrian landscape art.
• During Blockbuster, Lok directly explains in-universe that Ray's voicelines repeat every mission due to being pre-recorded.
• Lok's Fortnitemares icon has him wear a red circular Grill Lid, dressing as Pop.
