ID Scanners are a feature in Fortnite: Battle Royale. Introduced in Chapter 2: Season 2 to match with the Secret Agent’s theme, ID Scanners resemble a gray box with a red eye that will look around and about when not scanning anything. They act as a lock for specific doors and most Faction Chest. To unlock the door/Chest, you must knock down a Henchmen and carry it to the ID Scanner. From there, the scanner will take a few seconds to scan it. You may drop the henchmen after the chest/door opens. Another alternative is to scan yourself. However, make sure you have a disguise on, as being without a disguise will alert nearby henchmen. If you are not wearing a disguise, then the ID scanner will display the words 'SHADOW henchmen only' or 'GHOST Henchmen only.' They made a major error in creating these, as you can just break down the door.
Once the ID Scanner is unlocked, the red eye will turn blue, allowing entry, for 30 seconds.

They are located in almost all the boss locations added in Chapter 2: Season 2 to Chapter 2: Season 4, and in both returning and new locations in Chapter 2 Remix.

Chapter 2: Season 2[]
- Update v12.00: Added ID Scanners. They can be found at The Agency, The Shark, The Grotto, The Rig, The Yacht, SHADOW Safe Houses, and GHOST House.
Chapter 2: Season 3[]

- If you are being scanned and then quickly move away, then instead of alerting henchmen, it will display the words 'target lost' and continue to look around.
- If you are wearing the appropriate disguise matching the henchmen of the spy base or safe house while being scanned, then it will grant you permission and will become inactive for at least 30 seconds before activating and locking the door.
