Icy Feet (Mechanic)

Functionality[]

In Battle Royale and Creative, Icy Feet is applied when certain items come into contact with the player, and create large ice blocks on their feet. These blocks signify the player has the effect active.

In Save the World, Icy Feet is only present in Frostnite's weekly modifiers, namely Frosty Turf and Final Frost. Icy Feet is applied when the player touches the ground or terrain, and is worn off when standing on top of a structure or object.

When the player has Icy Feet, they:

• Have impaired control of their movement. Turning in the opposite direction is delayed, and the player is very slow to move from a static position.
• The player will have a momentum mechanic tied to their movement. This momentum can be increased by moving, going down an incline or receiving knockback. This momentum can be reduced by moving in the opposite direction, reaching an incline, colliding with a structure, or receiving knockback in the direction opposite to their movement.
• When the player stops moving, any speed they have built up will continue to be present until the effect wears off, or the speed gradually decreases until they stop.

Icy Feet can be cancelled by getting knocked down or entering water in Battle Royale and Creative, and by standing on top of a structure or object in Save the World.
