Overview
Collectibles are a series of special items in Fortnite: Battle Royale, often used to unlock Cosmetic Items. Unlike regular items, these do not have a function in a PvP sense, and the player keeps them outside of matches. Collectibles were first introduced in Season 9.

Collectibles are unique items which the player collects to obtain cosmetic items, often times in conjunction with the Battle Pass. Collectibles do not persist between seasons, and are found either as pickups on the map, or gained through challenges or opening containers. Collectibles are client-side, meaning only players who have not collected them yet can see them, with other players being unable to see pickups for collectibles, unless in the same scenario. Collectibles were first introduced in Season 9, and have been expanded upon in subsequent seasons.

Season 9 | Fortbytes were 100 uniquely placed collectibles which required the player either enter a specific location, or complete a unique task to gain them. Chapter 2: Season 7 | Alien Artifacts were found in various locations across the map, but could also be found in Cosmic Chests. Map based Artifacts granted 5 Artifacts, whereas Cosmic Chests granted 2-3.
