Battle Stars

Functionality[]

Battle Stars were awarded to players upon gaining enough XP to complete a level. 5 Battle Stars were awarded for each level gained, including levels purchased with V-Bucks. Battle Stars were not awarded beyond the amount needed to unlock everything in the Battle Pass. If the player did not use up their stars for the season, they would automatically be used to redeem the items chronologically in the Battle Pass.

Each item in the Battle Pass costed a set number of Battle Stars, which changed depending upon the season:

Previous System (Season X and prior)[]

Previously, before their rework, Battle Stars were the method used to 'tier up' in the Battle Pass. Every time a player leveled up, they would receive 2 Battle Stars. 10 Battle Stars were required to complete a tier of the Battle Pass, with the pass offering XP boosts as the pass progressed, allowing for steady leveling.

Players received stars when they:

• Completed a Daily Challenge (5 Stars)
• Completed a Weekly Battle Pass Challenge (5 Stars)
• Completed a Hard Weekly Battle Pass Challenge (10 Stars)
• Leveled up when the level ended with a 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 (2 Stars)
• Leveled up when the level ended with a 5 (5 Stars)
• Leveled up when the level ended with a 0 (10 Stars)
• Acquired a Secret Battle Star from the map (10 Stars)
• Completed a limited time challenge (Varies)

Secret Battle Stars[]

Secret Battle stars were super secret tier ups that could only be found by hints from the corresponding week's loading screen. The hints could vary from a faint Battle Star in the image or coordinates Ex. A1 SW (which would lead you to the southwest corner of the A1 Grid Reference).

For Example: The Secret Battle Star location for Week 1 of Season 5: The Battle Star was located at the umbrella in the ground located near Lazy Links.

History[]

Season 2[]

• Update v1.11: Introduced Battle Stars alongside the Battle Pass. They are required to tier up in the Battle Pass and can be obtained by completing challenges, and leveling up.

Chapter 2: Season 1[]

• Update v11.00: Removed Battle Stars, players now tier up in the pass with the level they gain.

Chapter 2: Season 7[]

• Update v17.00: Reintroduced Battle Stars, they have been massively reworked
  • Players always gain 5 stars per tier
  • Stars are now used to purchase items from the Battle Pass, allowing some choice for the player to pick which items they want first.
  • Players still need to reach level 100 to gain everything from the pass.

Chapter 5: Season 4[]

• October 28th, 2024: Fortnite announced that Battle Stars will be retired by December 1st, 2024, and the old system (Chapter 2: Season 1 - Chapter 2: Season 6) will be reintroduced.

Chapter 6: Season 1[]

• Update v33.00: Removed Battle Stars once again. Reverted to the Chapter 2, Season 1 system of tiering up in the pass with every level gained.
