Overview

The Perk Recombobulator is a feature in Fortnite: Save the World that introduced more ways to change and upgrade the perk options on Weapons and Traps. It was introduced in Update v4.20.

To access the Perk Recombobulator:

  • Go to the Schematics menu found in the Armory tab
  • Click on the Weapon or Trap you'd like to upgrade
  • Press Upgrade
  • Click Modify Perks
Perk Resources

Perk Resources[]

Replacing or Upgrading Perks costs three new resources:

  • RE-PERK! is available throughout all zones starting in Plankerton and above.
    • It is used to change or modify a Perk.
  • PERK-UP! is also available throughout all zones starting in Plankerton and above, but also has different rarity levels only found in later Zones of the game.
    • It is used to upgrade the rarity of a Perk.
  • Core RE-PERK! is only available from Ventures Level-Up rewards and Quests, Weekly 160s Quest and certain Ventures Questlines like Imposter!.

In addition, you’ll be able to choose which element you want on your weapon. This modification requires elemental resources:

  • You can obtain these resources by completing Mission Alerts with a specified Element Modifier.
Legacies

Legacies[]

Weapons and Traps that haven't been converted to the new Perk System are considered Legacies. They have outdated and some unobtainable Perks. Perks on a Legacy Item cannot be changed unless it is converted to the new system.

  • When players attempt to modify the perks of a Legacy Item, they will first be prompted to opt-into converting the Legacy item into the new system.
  • Before opting to convert the item, the system presents you with a before-and-after preview of any changes that may occur to the item.
  • In some cases, there will be no change, and in others the perk loadout may be altered.
  • Sometimes, a ‘Free’ slot may appear. Free slots allow players to choose what goes into that slot for free after the conversion is accepted.
  • In all cases, the Conversion process is free, and on a per-item basis. This means that each Legacy item must be converted to work with the Perk Recombobulator, one-at-a-time. Once the process is performed on an item, you’re free to begin customizing that item’s perks!

  • Elemental items now have a dedicated perk slot.
  • Perks have five levels of power; (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary)
  • If you want your Legacy item to reach its full potential, you’ll have to convert it using the Perk Recombobulator.
  • Each perk slot has a range of possible perk types that it can contain.
    • Players can choose to replace a perk in a given slot, but the list of perks that a slot can be changed to is limited in scope, and varies from slot to slot.
  • Some perks cannot be changed at all.

Critical hits with this weapon cause an explosion, damaging enemies within 0.5 tiles for 43 base damage.
Hitting multiple enemies in a single swing increases damage.
5 attacks from enemies give you a 20% melee damage increase on your next attack.
Eliminating an enemy with this weapon reduces your current health by 8% and deals 26-151 base damage based on the percentage of your missing health in a 0.5 tile radius. Can only occur every 3 seconds.
After 3 eliminations, gain +28% movement speed and +52% damage for 8 seconds.
Hitting an enemy with this weapon grants +8 Armor for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 5 times.
Hitting an enemy with this weapon grants +6 Critical Rating for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 5 times.
Each shot fired grants +1.8% Damage for 1 second. Stacks up to 15 times.
Each shot fired grants +2.6% Fire Rate for 1 second. Stacks up to 15 times.
Hitting an enemy with this weapon grants +6% Movement Speed for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 5 times.
Hitting an enemy with this weapon 3 times causes it and nearby enemies to dance for a short duration. Does not affect enemies that have recently been dancing. Dance does not affect Mist Monsters or Bosses.
After eliminating 5 enemies with this weapon within 15 seconds, regenerate 25% of your shield over 3 seconds.
